About this listen

I'm not sure about anything anymore. Except him.

I tried so hard to join the military, but they didn't want me. Asthma. So I settled for being a military contractor instead.

I've done well at it, too. But this last deployment...it was hard. Really hard. And I'm not sure I want to go through something like that again.

I've got a friend - James. Younger man. Hot as hell, too. But I'm not sure about him, either. I keep finding myself wanting more - but does he? And even if he does, we're in two different places. Young buck like him, he's only started his career in the Army, while I'm ready to figure out what it means to have a home.

Can we really make this work? Or will his overbearing parents and active duty career be the pressure points that tear us apart?

Falling For His Scars is the third audio book in the Soldier's Support Group series, although it can be listened to as a standalone audio book. The Army might give these guys some tough choices, but each audio book in the series delivers a guaranteed happily ever after!

Just pulled me in.

This the first book I’ve listened to from these authors. I’m reviewing the audio version. I think it was interesting the way the guys were friends first. Since Kevin really needed the group they both belonged to it set them up to get acquainted and then slowly led to more. James has his own issues. His being gay is used against him by his parents. They bring a lot of hate and coldness to the story. How James seems so warm hearted and forgiving is a wonder. Kevin has the issues of PTSD and age. He is older and that seems to make him more reluctant to enter into any relationship with James further than friends. The story flows smoothly and a few incidents sets up the development of their attraction and relationship. I really liked Kevin’s therapist. She was pretty honest and made Kevin work through his problems. The only part I felt was a little hurried was since they were moving in together as “friends” they needed more room. Then all of a sudden there is a house and the story gets nicely tied up. I wanted it to go a little slower how they were actually working out together on a daily basis and a little more into their future. Since I have not listened to the previous books in this series maybe the author’s carry forward the characters and I’ll get my answers in the rest of the series. Overall I really liked the story. It went beyond the run of the mill forbidden relationship and made me feel these two were real people. I felt the narration was excellent and lent so much to the story.

Love Will Always Find A Way

Lance Adams did a wonderful job with this story.

I absolutely love this series. The men in this group have had such a hard time. It is great to see them rely on each other to get through such terrible situations.
The age between the couple is used as a point of contention by many people around them and even by the couple themselves. They work through this perceived obstacle and let the love they feel for each other win out in the end.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes
Was there anything that didn't work for me? nope - all good.
What did I like about the story? good pace, great characters and an interesting story (age gap). My heart broke for James at his family's actions. I enjoyed the development of the relationship and am happy Kevin and James could work through the perceived 'age gap' obstacle to find happiness together.

Narrator comment: Lance Adams has done a good job narrating Falling for His Scars. He bought the characters to life, I felt the emotions of the story and I thoroughly enjoyed the audio experience

Great

This series is great so far. I love the flow of the story and it’s good to revisit some past characters while enjoying the new ones. It helpful to understand what our boys and men have to adjust to.

Great Story

This is the third book in the Soldiers Support Group with developed characters. This story is about Kevin an older man who is a tech contractor for the military. James is a younger man who is in the tech section of the military. The men meet at G-MIL a support group for the military in which I believe book one. The story starts out with Kevin coming back from a mission. When he comes home, he is battling with PTSD. While dealing with his PTSD the closer these two men get. The younger man is comfort for Kevin. Moving their relationship from friends to lovers is not an easy one. Although they talk about the issues, the age gap, as well as the accident that James goes thru, and James’ parent’s coldness pulls these two characters closer together while making them both grow up a little more. The narration was very well done.

May/December Friends to lovers

I do love a good friends to lovers and this one is done really well, with such a sweet and natural progression. i'm really enjoying this series and honestly each one has gotten better. I really think this is the best of the bunch. The pace and story line were great and Adams really does a great job with the narration pulling you into the story and making sure you feel all the feels.

SOME FAMILIES SHOULD NEVER HAVE CHILDREN

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review

I was blown away at the length that some families would go to because they have a gay child. James’s parents were the worst that I’ve ever encountered in a book and I have encountered some doozies. Kevin’s father wasn’t much better because of his asthmatic condition. The two find each other and the hurdles that they go through, with their backgrounds and PTSD, to be together warmed my heart.

The narration was superb!

love over prejudice

Omg! James's parents were evil empty vessels! I can't waste words on them. Kevin and James's journey was emotional and heartfelt. If they could weather the storm (parents) and other obstacles between them in a new relationship, then they can get through anything. I liked that neither one ever gave up and only needed time and space to think and heal before moving forward. I liked their supportive group of friends too. The narrator was awesome. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review.
