About this listen
The subject of fairies in Celtic cultures is a complex one that seems to endlessly intrigue people. What exactly are fairies? What can they do? How can we interact with them? Answering these questions becomes even harder in a world that is disconnected from the traditional folklore and flooded with modern sources that are often vastly at odds with the older beliefs.
This book aims to present listeners with a straightforward guide to the older fairy beliefs, covering everything from Fairyland itself to details about the beings within it. The Otherworld is full of dangers and blessings, and this guidebook will help you navigate a safe course among the Good People.

Story
The mysticism and fairy folklore of Celtic England, Scotland, the Isle of Man, Brittany, and Wales is explored in this production, which focuses on interviews conducted with everyday citizens about their beliefs, sightings, and encounters in the early 20th century, followed by an anthropological examination of evidence. It is an exploration of the spirit world, of the Sidhe, the "good people", who are claimed to interact mischievously with the populace - sometimes even abducting them and leaving only the victims' clothes behind, transporting them far distances, and killing livestock.

Story
Most people have heard of the Celts - the elusive, ancient tribal people who resided in present-day England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Paradoxically characterized as both barbaric and innocent, the Celts appeal to the modern world as a symbol of a bygone era, a world destroyed by the ambition of empire and the spread of Christianity throughout Western Europe. Despite the pervasive cultural and literary influence of the Celts, shockingly little is known of their way of life and beliefs, because very few records of their stories exist.

Story
An illuminating exploration of Ireland's ancient dark goddess - the beloved "phantom queen" of the Celtic world - with practices for modern-day devotees. The Morrigan is one of Pagan Ireland's most famous - and notorious - goddesses. Her name translated as "phantom queen" or "great queen," the Morrigan is famous for being a goddess of war, witchcraft and death, protection and retribution. This book also explores her patronage of motherhood, healing, shapeshifting, and the land.

Story
Celtic mythology, Arthurian romance, and an intriguing interpretation of British history - these are just some of the themes embraced by the anonymous authors of the eleven tales that make up the Welsh medieval masterpiece known as The Mabinogion. They tell of Gwydion the shape-shifter, who can create a woman out of flowers; of Math the magician whose feet must lie in the lap of a virgin; of hanging a pregnant mouse and hunting a magical boar.

An excellent overview of fairy lore old and new
For those who are searching for a quality introduction to fairies and their folklore, Morgan Daimler's "Faeries: A Guide to the Celtic Fair Folk" is an excellent resource. Included are many examples from myths and folklore about the fae and their dealings as well as practical methods for dealing with them. This is a very balanced approach that not only describes the reasons why someone might wish to engage with these beings, but also does not shy away from the many reasons why someone might *not* wish to do so. Highly recommended.
Excellent narration (and pronunciation of Irish terms) by Chloe Cannon.

Educational and Informative
Okay hear me out. If you're a skeptic that is looking for an anthropological / sociological disection of broadly Celtic folklore relating to "The Other Crowd" you've come to the right place. This is exceptionally well-researched, in addition to being an easy listen/read.
Morgan's writing is not dense, nor does it talk down to you. She writes with authority and humor, and leaves the reader with a sense that she is inviting you in.
I recommend this book both for the accademic and the pagan, there's something in here for the curious and inquisitive. Near the end she does talk about her own experiences with the good folk and as a practicing pagan, but that in no way taints the research she's done, simply adds a bit of flavor.

Fantastic Information!
Morgan Daimler does it again! I absolutely loved this one! Great I formation for anyone wanting to work with, or not not work with the Goodfolk. The narrator was a bit draggy, but speeding up the reading helped. Thank you for another fantastic resource.

Fairies
This was a quick read. I appreciate the chapter that distinguishes between ancient and modern traditions of fairies. It can be hard to find information that clarifies which beliefs have been around for centuries. Anyone interested in fairies should of course read this!
