Acerca de esta escucha

Extras, the final book in the Uglies series, is set a couple of years after the "mind-rain", a few earth-shattering months in which the whole world woke up. The cure has spread from city to city, and the pretty regime that kept humanity in a state of bubbleheadedness has ended. Boundless human creativity, new technologies, and old dangers have been unleashed upon the world. Culture is splintering, the cities becoming radically different from each other as each makes its own way into this strange and unpredictable future....

One of the features of the new world is that everyone has a "feed", which is basically their own blog/Myspace/TV channel. The ratings of your feed (combined with how much the city interface overhears people talking about you) determines your social status - so everyone knows at all times how famous they are.

As Scott Westerfeld explored the themes of extreme beauty in the first three Uglies books, now he takes on the world's obsession with fame and popularity. And how anyone can be an instant celebrity.

I almost stopped listening to this book in the first chapter. The reader was driving me crazy with her male voices. Every male character sounded "brain missing." I am glad that I powered through it though because it was an entertaining story to listen to on my way to and from work.

Great book, but the performance...

Before I got this book I read the reviews first and was a little discouraged purchasing it due to the awful reviews it received. However my desire to finish the series compelled me more to purchase it anyway and as it turns out I don't know why the reviews was so bad. This book is incredible!! A great ending. Seeing everything in a different perspective is genius. I've enjoyed it a lot as I did the first 3 books.

It was actually really good

The book was interesting. Nice continuation of the series. Not a big fan of changing up narrators from one book to the next. The hardest part was listening to the storytellers male voices. They all sound like Neanderthals as she slows downs her speech and deepens her voice for their parts. Otherwise great story.

Great story, okay narrator

I love this series, especially because of the ethical dilemmas that really make you think about what societies need to become better.

Great read :)

I didn't enjoy this as much as Uglies Pretties Specials. I was disappointed that the same voice actor was not used as well.

Not as good as Uglies...

loved the concepts of fame culture and the ongoing struggle of an expanding humanity! Although told from the pov of a new character this book is definitely in the Tally Youngblood story arch! Happening three years after Specials and half a world away the story is gripping and well read! I highly recommend finishing this series with Extras!

Extras; so good for a fourth book trilogy.

I really enjoyed the change in perspective in this book and the interesting way Aya's society deals with the economy. We still get to follow Tally and the cutters to a satisfying ending. The narrator was pretty good, but seemed to strain on the lower voices.

Good finish

It’s hard to say how much I would have liked it if the narration wasn’t awful. It was my least favorite of The Uglies series. It was nice to finally catch a glimpse of the characters I loved but it just didn’t fulfill what I needed or wanted from the last book.

The way the narrator portrayed male voices really took me out of the story. It was really bad.

The narrator kind of ruined this book for me
