About this listen

In New York Times best-selling author Lisa Scottoline's electrifying, Edgar-nominated first novel in her Rosato & Associates series, a young lawyer at an all-female law firm must stay one step ahead of a stalker who has a deadly agenda.

Mary DiNunzio has been slaving away for the past eight years trying to make partner in her cutthroat Philadelphia law firm. She's too busy to worry about the crank phone calls she's been getting - until they fall into a sinister pattern. The phone rings as soon as she gets to work, then as soon as she gets home.

Mary can't shake the sensation that someone is watching her, following her every move. The shadowboxing turns deadly when her worst fears are realized, and she has to fight for something a lot more important than partnership: her life.

I purchased this novel and several others during Audible's first in a series sale last month.

Attorney Lisa Scottoline's legal thrillers, all 30+ of them, include a lot of discussion of feelings, a bit of Catholic guilt, female lawyers, and at least one legal case. Of those I have read or listened to there is at least some feeling of chick lit, really good chick lit!. Mary DiNunzio, the protagonist of this one, has lost her husband to murder and her best male friend to murder, both literally road kill. There is a nice twist near the end which identifies the culprit. Mary and Judy Carrier decide to form their own legal firm at the end of Everywhere That Mary Went. Nevertheless, this is the weakest of Scottoline's legal thrillers, so don't this let this novel discourage you from others of her novels. Narration is better than the novel.

the book was good. it bogged down bit in the middle, but Scottalini's drawing tiny treads together toward the end always makes her books a lot of fun.

where's Mary?

I've read these books years ago. I decided to try the audio version, This narrator is horrible... I couldn't wait to get to the end.... It was hard to get through.

Hard to listen to

Relatively realistic depiction of legal practice mixed with silly murder plot. Very readable and hard to put down until you get to the unwrapping of the mystery, which is silly.

Enjoyable

The characters all sounded the same, rather nasally. I found myself thinking more about the narration than the story itself. I can’t decide if I didn’t really enjoy the story because of the writing or the narration.

After listening to this series being read by Barbara Rosenblat, this was a disappointment

I drive a lot between my rural home and the nearest shopping. This was an easy listen where there a many interruptions and I could remember what happened before. Some surprises and intrigue.

Easy story to listen to

There are alot of twist and turns, I bought this book on a whim because I accidentally bought the second book to this series, I am interested in how this pays out. It was good but very slow starting.

Very Interesting

Usually, I am immediately captivated with Lisa’s writings and it took me half to 3/4 of the way to really get into this novel. I’m glad I finished it though.
