Agatha Award-Best Children's/Young Adult

Amazon Best of the Year

A New York Times bestseller.

Kyle Keeley is the class clown, popular with most kids, (if not the teachers), and an ardent fan of all games: board games, word games, and particularly video games. His hero, Luigi Lemoncello, the most notorious and creative game maker in the world, just so happens to be the genius behind the building of the new town library.

Lucky Kyle wins a coveted spot to be one of the first 12 kids in the library for an overnight of fun, food, and lots and lots of games. But when morning comes, the doors remain locked. Kyle and the other winners must solve every clue and every secret puzzle to find the hidden escape route. And the stakes are very high.

In this cross between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and A Night in the Museum, Agatha Award winner Chris Grabenstein uses rib-tickling humor to create the perfect tale for his quirky characters. Old fans and new listeners will become enthralled with the crafty twists and turns of this ultimate library experience.

Fun story for kids who love puzzles and libraries

My 7 year old bookworm loved listening to this book. I enjoyed it also. Lots of fun references to all sorts of literature as the characters work to solve the puzzles to escape the library.

Libraries and Boardgames-My Two Favorite Things!!!

What did you love best about Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library?

I loved how the characters needed to learn, grow AND work together to achieve success. Don't get me wrong, I loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and there was something of that feel here...but here the characters weren't cookie cutter-they had flaws and strengths and they grew to see those things in themselves and each other!

This makes a great road trip book for the family

This appealed to my boys on a road trip--ages 6, 8, 10, and 12 at the time. They loved the opening scene where the brothers are doing a neighborhood scavenger hunt. This totally hooked them. The story gets better from there and the whole idea of the book is very creative--a bunch of kids competing against one another to escape in a unique way from a new library in order to win a prize. As a nice bonus, the narrator does a splendid job.

Great Book

I love the book, some of the voices for characters are odd but it doesn’t ruin the book!

Fun, Engaging for parents & kids!

We love the voices! Jesse Bernstein did a phenomenal job bringing the story to life! Another wonderful story by Chris Grabenstein. My child made a reading list as the titles and authors were repeated. This story prompted questions like - “What’s Charlie & the Chocolate Factory about?” And “How do you get Around the World in 80 Days?”
It was a real page-turner; we couldn’t wait to find out what happened next and we couldn’t anticipate the ending. I wanted to find out how the story ended just like my child.
