Reseñas editoriales

With a full cast production, this highly-entertaining dramatization of the award-winning military science fiction story Ender's Game will wow fans as well as listeners new to this classic. Using an original screenplay written by Orson Scott Card himself, the audioplay takes listeners through Battle School with prodigy Ender Wiggin.

The cast fleshes out their characters with full personalities and motivations - in particular, the actors who portray the children at Battle School do a wonderful job in bringing out their precociousness and fading innocence. The action scenes are brisk and electrifying, and listeners will be swept up in the events of the story.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Listeners will feel surrounded by Card's sophisticated, high-stakes universe. With a stately musical score and video-game sound effects, this "re-imagined" production sticks close to the novel while offering listeners an entertaining new way to enjoy one of science fiction's best loved stories.” ( AudioFile)

Different from Original, but Amazing

The full cast made it so that each character had its own voice. Also, I appreciated how the book was adjusted to change Ender's Game from a book that contained a lot of internal thoughts of Ender, to a book that was entirely external. The sound effects helped to pull you into the book as if you were right there in the room as events unfolded. One negative was the long pauses and random music used as a scene/chapter break. But overall, it was a great experience.

VERY alive ... and kicking

Would you consider the audio edition of Ender's Game Alive: The Full Cast Audioplay to be better than the print version?

true to print but in a different format

Any additional comments?

Any audio book alters the images of print because it affects different senses and emotions. An audio book with different voices and sound effects was almost like a movie without the visual effects. Unlike the Tolkien adaptations this stayed true to the original text.

Very good audio play

This is a very well done performance. The story is a very familiar one to me but this isn't just a full cast presentation of the book. There are some changes to the story to encompass some of the information from the First Formic Invasion books and other elements. All of the elements from the Enderverse were made available and Mr. Card forged another telling of the Ender story.

The time flew by as I was listening and as usual was thoroughly entertained. Many familiar voices filled this audioplay giving a comfortable feel to the performance. The only real issue I had was the voices of the children. It wasn't a big deal, but I did notice that they were a little irritating. I would still recommend this to any Ender fan.

READ THE BOOK FIRST

This Audioplay is really good. Ender’s Game is, in my opinion, the greatest space opera book ever written, and getting to experience the story in this form is really good. The acting, in particular, is really good, especially that of Ender and Col. Graph. However, as much as I highly recommend this Audioplay, I recommend it with a caveat: read the book first. Not only is the book a masterpiece that should be read by any science-fiction fan, anyway, but this Audioplay acts more as a supplement than a replacement for the original story. Very little description about the world, characters, or environment occurs in this Audioplay compared to the original book, so it can be difficult to picture unless you have read the book. Additionally, this Audioplay skips MASSIVE parts of the story, only briefly mentioning some important events. Even as someone who’s read the book, it got a bit confusing at times, and if I hadn’t read the book first, I’d have absolutely no idea what’s going on in the second half of the Audioplay. There’s a really good audiobook of Ender’s Game here on Audible or you can pick up a physical copy for pretty cheap. Either way, I recommend reading the original story first. If you enjoy it (which I really think you will), THEN give this Audioplay a listen.

Too much dead air

Overall I enjoyed it
The one thing that bothered me was all the dead air and some sound effects were not done well

Probably one of my favorite books ever!

I had reservations about buying this since sometimes dramatizations don't do the book justice and I love this book so much. That being said however, while you do lose the internal monologue of the characters the presentation was so well done I didn't mind. If you like Ender's Game as a book, then this deserves a listen. It brought me to tears more than once, as did the book.

This is a must listen if you like the book. Don't miss it!

Superb start to a series

Can't stop now. I've been dealt the "Scott" card and I'm all in on the Ender series.

Great adaptation

The voice actors do a wonderful job of immersing you into Ender's world, from the banter to the heartfelt emotional scenes and everything in between.

Overall, the adaptation works, as any scenes which would normally be narrated omnisciently are now framed as Battle School staff watching video and analyzing what's going on. However, like the recent film, this version almost completely cuts out Locke and Demonsthenes (there is a very short scene where they are discussing the initial plan, and a passing reference later, but that's it). I know that those scenes would be difficult to do in this format, but it feels like an important part of the novel is missing.

Still, if you're a fan and you've read/listened to an unabridged version, this is very enjoyable, and I recommend it.

A different take to a great book

Enders Game is one of my favorites book. The dialogue approach and the music transform this book into a immerse story telling experience.
