About this listen
About the Book
Aligning with Heaven's purpose, with the strength of unity, and embracing the authority of love are interconnected and essential components in our journey of acknowledging God's sovereign rule. When we align our hearts, minds, and actions with Heaven's purpose, we recognize that our lives are part of a grand and divine narrative. It allows us to transcend our individual desires and align ourselves with God's greater plan, contributing to the advancement of His Kingdom on earth.
However, aligning with Heaven's purpose is not a solitary endeavor. The strength of unity becomes a pivotal factor in this process. As believers come together in a supportive community, we amplify our efforts, combining our diverse gifts and talents in pursuit of a shared vision. Unity fosters a harmonious symphony of collaboration, where each member plays a vital role in fulfilling God's purpose.
Yet, the true power that fuels this unity is the authority of love. Embracing the authority of love means understanding that love is not just an emotion but an unwavering commitment to selfless service and compassion. When we lead with love, our interactions are marked by empathy, grace, and forgiveness. Love bridges divides, heals wounds, and transforms hearts, creating a fertile ground for unity to flourish.
It is in this harmonious interplay of aligning with Heaven's purpose, the strength of unity, and embracing the authority of love that we come to acknowledge God's sovereign rule. We recognize that our lives are not our own but part of a grand tapestry masterfully woven by the divine hand. Our unity reflects the unity within the Trinity, as we model the love and oneness displayed by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
As we submit to God's sovereign rule, we realize that His authority is not one of tyranny or dominance but of love and grace. This realization deepens our reverence and adoration for the King, who governs with wisdom, justice, and compassion. In acknowledging God's sovereign rule, we find freedom in surrender, strength in humility, and purpose in servanthood.

Story
Best-selling author J. I. Packer, one of the most influential evangelicals of our day, has put together what may become a Christian classic on the vital truths of the faith. Serving to nourish the church worldwide, Packer makes accessible the things we need to know in eight essential areas. This concise book also helps us guard against liberalism by pushing Christians to know their faith so they can explain it to inquirers and sustain it against skeptics. Here is a call to a discipleship in mere Christianity - the business of taking God seriously.

Story
Robert MacFarlane has written that language does not just register experience, it produces it. Our religious language in particular informs and shapes our understanding of God, our sense of self, and the way we make sense of our challenging path back to loving heavenly parents. Unfortunately, to an extent we may not realize, our religious vocabulary has been shaped by prior generations whose creeds, in Joseph Smith's words, have filled the world with confusion. I make all things new, proclaimed the Lord. Regrettably, many are still mired in the past, in ways we have not recognized.

Story
Francis of Assisi is one of the most beloved of all saints. Both traditional and entirely revolutionary, he was a paradox. He was at once down-to-earth and reaching toward heaven, grounded in the rich history of the Church while moving toward a new understanding of the world beyond. Franciscan Father Richard Rohr helps us look beyond the birdbath image of the saint to remind us of the long tradition founded on Francis' revolutionary, radical, and life-changing embrace of the teachings of Jesus.

Story
For some people “Pentecostal” is a new word. Although it has become much more common in recent years, its roots go back to an ancient Jewish feast and, more recently, to the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the earliest Christian believers. Because this initial outpouring of the Spirit took place on the Day of Pentecost, those who experience a similar infilling of the Spirit are known as Pentecostals. They look to the book of Acts as a guide for how to live out their Christian faith.

Story
The Trinity is supposed to be the central doctrine grounding Christianity, yet we're often told that we shouldn't attempt to understand it because it's a mystery. But what if we breached that mystery? How might it transform our relationship with God?

Story
In his acclaimed books, renowned writer, speaker, and philosophy professor Dallas Willard explored the nature of Christian life in God's Kingdom. Yet one topic remained undisclosed: Willard's understanding of heaven and eternal life. In the months before his death, Willard engaged in moving and insightful conversations about the meaning of life and the life to come with close friend and theologian Gary Black, Jr. These inspiring dialogues were steeped in biblical theology as well as practical wisdom grounded in the here-and-now.

Every generation faces the temptation to wander from orthodoxy—to seek out the jolt that comes with false teaching, and to drift with cultural currents. And so every generation must be awakened again to the thrill of orthodoxy, and experience the astonishment that comes from stumbling afresh upon the electrifying paradoxes at the heart of the Christian faith. In The Thrill of Orthodoxy, Trevin Wax turns the tables on those who believe Christian teaching is narrow and outdated.

Story
Most Christians would agree that the Bible provides a basis for mission. But Christopher Wright boldly maintains that mission is bigger than that - there is in fact a missional basis for the Bible. The entire Bible is generated by and is all about God's mission. In order to understand the Bible, we need a missional hermeneutic of the Bible, an interpretive perspective that is in tune with this great missional theme. We need to see the "big picture" of God's mission and how the familiar bits and pieces fit into the grand narrative of Scripture.
