Jason and his friends just wanted to spend a week at the lake house. Time to relax, hang out, and catch up on old times. Then the System arrived. Story
An experimental ASI with a terminal case of curiosity reached out and tampered with the universe in a way that it should not have, and unleashed a torrent of energy we would call magic into our galaxy. Humans, and every other intelligent lifeform for that matter, were ill-prepared, physically and mentally, for such an eventuality. In an effort to save itself, the ASI hastily created something it called the Framework to shape and codify this magical energy, and usher in a new world. A world of classes, levels, and extraordinary power. But also a world of monsters.

Almost as strange as the humans flying through the skies on flaming swords and challenging the heavens. After all, this is a world where humans could chase the goal of immortality through the art of cultivation. Publisher's summary
Leo wanted to make something out of himself—and build dams.
However, the world doesn't want dams. And it mostly doesn't want civil engineers. It doesn't want men who do any sort of building or fighting or grand design, it seems.
So, when Leo finds his current girlfriend and boss being threatened by a brutal loan shark and all three of them get dragged through a portal to another world, it doesn't take long for him to decide this is the place for him. Plus, everyone has magic, and who wouldn't want that?
Leo appears in the realm of a fallen kingdom, one that desperately needs someone who will both fight for what's right and build a grand civilization.
Along with his new coterie of friends—a not-quite-a-princess elf and a crippled dragon—Leo must race to build his kingdom before the loan shark Kruegar can finish Leo off with a legion of orcs.
[A litRPG adventure with kingdom-building, base-building, some slice of life, and a whole lot of quipping. Also, an in-depth magic system, leveling options, and an empire chart system. Check out the audiobook that has received over half a million views on RoyalRoad!]

But every gamer's dream becomes a nightmare for Roman Kozhevnikov after he gets confined to Arkon against his will. And not just to Arkon, but to its deadliest zone - Demon Grounds. Playing - or rather living - as his character Krian, it's not just about survival for Roman.

This book took me back to some of the earlier in the genre, lots of details on kingdom building, delegation, navigating difficult adversaries and nobles. Very well written and excellent performance.

Loved it.
I like the direction the story is heading in and how the Leo helps people grow. My only concern was that this might have been a harem story but the sensibility of the people and the importance on feelings makes me think that the author would not go in that direction.

The book is pretty solid for the first book in the series. So we could do less pining over a woman that literally only had a couple lines at the beginning of the book and absolutely no other background on her. she basically ratted him out to the bad guys.

intelligent and inspired characters and plot
I love the misfit dragons the most, but all the characters are great and not drawn out emotional, which makes a good story. The plot is insightful with common story flow.
only complaint are the stat and leveling spots are WAY too long ... almost stopped listening altogether to audible.
great story.. looking forward to book 2

very good story
I been looking for new books. the main character was not super overpowered and unlike other MCs has realistic brains

good story and the system makes sence
I like that the system makes more sense in relation the the MCs prior skill set. good story and good narrator def recommend it.

didn't finish
Way too many unnecessary details. 5 or 10 minutes of him just reading skills that don't matter to the story overall. That's not world building

The story telling it's quite interesting as well as the world building.
The main character as well as his entourage, is quite intriguing and I quite enjoy their sense of humors. The one thing I would say. I dislike about the story is the incessive need to repeat skills and affinities for each individual skill and abilities.

Great Start
I really enjoyed this universe especially the kingdom building. The MC has a very interesting path.
