About this listen

The heart doesn’t forget….

The memory of that day still haunts Shylah Kemp. Eden had asked her to wait for him, to remain at the safe house while he went on a mission. But when she learned he was being setup, she didn’t have a choice. She had to do something.

It was a risk…and Shylah paid dearly.

Eden Cole is not the man he once was. Not since returning from his mission to find his whole world changed. Being betrayed by his own government would change any man. Betrayal by the woman he loved—that nearly broke him.

When his woman suddenly shows up in Marble Falls 14 months later, Eden is determined to learn why Shylah had disappeared without a trace…and put an end to the danger that’s followed in her wake.

Wow, Eden’s book destroyed me!

This is the first time I have heard Janine Granda and Jack Calihan narrate together and I think these 2 are perfect for how the series is lined up. They tone in their voices help to visualize the characters!
Eden couldn’t believe he fell in love with Shylah and she felt nothing for him, if she had, she wouldn’t have disappeared while he was on his mission with the team. He kept asking himself, how in the world did he get it so wrong!!
Shylah would do everything in her power to save the man she loves, even if that means putting her life at risk! Determined to keep Eden’s team from getting killed, Shylah sent them an encrypted message letting them know it was a trap but before she could leave the control room she got caught.
Shylah has healed as much as she can and is bound and determined to see if her and Eden can pick up where they left off but too much time has gone by. They are not the same people as they were 14 month ago. Eden was/is still heartbroken and doesn’t trust people anymore. Will he open back up to the woman he never stopped loving?
One thing about Eden and Shylah, their love for one another never died and they both loved with all their heart. After getting back on track together, the past catches up with them determine to destroy what they have.

Secrets and misunderstandings!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😚☹️🥹😉
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Shylah Kemp - She had been in love with Eden Cole and couldn’t picture a life without him. She was left behind on base when he was sent on a mission, which she found out was a suicide mission. She broke into Project Arma headquarters on the day that the Government was going raid the facility. She found that the building had been emptied out and most of the evidence had been removed. She knew she had 30 minutes before Eden could be dead. Shylah sent the team a forged email from their commander telling them to abort the mission, right before that same commander shot her.

The Hero: Eden Cole - he was a Navy SEAL before he and his teammates were betrayed by their commander who most likely took money to put their team into an unsanctioned experimental program to turn them into super-soldiers via genetic manipulation. Now, fourteen months after the raid,
they are free and living a somewhat normal life and they own a security and protection business together. Though they are still searching for their old leader and the others that did this to them without their knowledge or consent. Eden also wants to find Shylah, the woman he loved who betrayed him and disappeared without a trace

The Story: Eden has been ruled by anger over the past year. Shylah was just another of the people he and his teammates had trusted when they shouldn’t have. One day when he put his hand through some glass, one of his friends makes him go to the hospital and is surprised to see that Shylah is his nurse. Shylah had spent the last fourteen months recovering and moved to Marble Falls to see him again. She was surprised at his angry reaction to her. She thought he should have trusted her, and his lack of faith had worried her.

One thing I hate in books is when there is a misunderstanding and instead of just having the character explain what happened or their side of the story, they take the high road and think they shouldn’t have to explain or the other person doesn’t deserve an explanation, so the characters go on being angry at each other for no reason. That happened in this book, and it took quite a while before Shylah finally gave up her secrets.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Janine Granda and Jack Calihan. Janine Granda has a nice voice and sounds about the age Shylah should be. I hadn’t heard her narration before and liked her. Jack Calihan has a soft gravelly voice that is pleasing, though he does sound an older than what Eden should be (late twenties, or early thirties).

Second Chance Romance

Nyssa has completely hooked me! As soon as Shylah was mentioned in book one I knew she needed redemption or it was a misunderstanding! Eden is so grumpy, he's been so hurt by Shylah's betrayal and the last person he expected to see was her...but she's back and now he needs to figure out what happened.

Janine and Jack did a great job performing as Shylah and Eden. It's performed in dual narration so you get a lot of range from both, Janine knows exactly how to adjust her voice as Eden.

Moving onto Asher...because I can't stop.

•Thoughts:
I read this book back when it came out, so it was a treat being able to revisit Marble Falls in audio!
When I first read the pre-qual to project Arma, I knew Shy and Edne's story was going to be amazing! I wasn't wrong. Shybis every bit the protector that Eden is. inlove her for it! tue length she has gone through to protect Eden, and his team was huge. Eden, he is destroyed in the first book and so angry! yet his draw and connection to Shy is hard to ignore. The mystery and danger that the team is still in is ongoing, and I am here for it. this series is so good.

Narrators: Both narrators are new to me. I did not mind the female narrator. I enjoyed her performance. I didn't notice that at some parts I found her monotone, but I truly enjoyed her. the male narrator was not my favorite. I struggled with him a tad. not enough to make stop listening, but he wasn't my favorite.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Riveting & Intense!

Nyssa Kathryn continues to wow me with another amazing romantic suspense set in her “Project Arma” series. Each book in this series features a member of a team of former Navy seals who are working together to track down those behind Project Arma. The world building is fantastic and continues throughout the series, so it is best to enjoy the books in order written to get the most out of the series. After meeting Eden Cole in the first book, I was looking forward to his story and finding out what his deal was and why he was such a grump. And behind every great man is a brilliant woman, and the reason for his grumpiness is just that, a brilliant woman, his brilliant woman, Shylah Kemp, except after everything went down with Project Arma, she disappeared. He did not know if something happen to her or if she was part of Project Arma. When Shylah comes back into the picture, he is not sure what to believe and she is not sure how to tell him what happened to her. Everything she did was to protect him and his team, but it cost her so much he may not want her after she tells him everything, anyway. I loved how everything played out in this book, the layers of the story and the complexity of the characters is amazing and the story is cleverly plotted with a perfect balance of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful romance. The deeper they dig into Project Arma, the more intense it gets, and it is great to watch the team in action and the camaraderie amongst them. I am looking forward to what comes next in the series, Asher and Lexie’s story. Nyssa Kathryn, thank you for another amazing story and the wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Nyssa Kathryn chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. Janine Granda and Jack Calihan did a fabulous job portraying the characters, giving each a voice that fit their character and was believable in every role they played. Calihan nailed it as Eden, grasping all sides of his personality, from his grumpiness to his over protective caring side. Granda did the same for Shylah, grasping her strengths and convictions, as well as vulnerabilities. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They sent the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

Gripping

This was an entertaining romantic suspense story that ticked all the boxes for me. Well written, the narration was good and the narrators were easy to listen to. From the first chapter I was hooked on the story that was told. There were equal amounts of romance and suspense which was entertaining. The characters were easy to relate to and I really liked them. The chemistry between them was intense and I found myself laughing out loud on a number of occasions with the witty banter and humour. The secondary characters were just as entertaining and I look forward to listening to more in the series.

enjoying this series so far

I was sucked into this book right away. After meeting Eden in the previous book, I was really curious as to why he was so angry all of the time and what Shylah had to do with it.

I really liked Shylah's character. I'm glad that she was able to form a friendship with Evie and Lexie. They're making such a sweet little friend group together!

I am really looking forward to seeing where things go in the next book. I'm excited that the next one is about Asher and Lexie so we can see what is going on with the two of them.

I have listened to Jack Calihan before and enjoyed his performance as usual. His voice was the perfect fit for grumpy, growly Eden. This was my first time listening to Janine Granda and I didn't enjoy her performance as much as I'd hoped to. It felt like she was over enunciating her words, which was distracting.

Keeps You Guessing!

This story starts you right in the heart of the action, and it doesn’t let up! Oh the longing between Eden and Shylah, the broken hearts, the anguish, just serves to make their happily ever after that much sweeter. Jack Calihan brings a fantastic gravelly voice to Eden, and Janine Granda brings sass and spine to Shylah. And you’ll never guess who the bad guy is! An amazing listen.

So suspenseful

I found Eden’s Character so interesting from the first book. I was wanting to know more about his story. I appreciated how Nyssa Katherine gave us some back story along with what was going on currently. Even though I knew going in that this story would be about Shylah and Eden, Nyssa Katherine still got me with all of the plot twists! This romantics suspense series has me sitting on the edge of my seat! I feel like I’m in this group with them trying to sort out what’s going and wanting answers!

This book was Narrated by Janine Granda and Jack Calihan. They were able to give so much emotion to this character. Jack perfectly captured Eden’s brute and brooding character and Janine did fantastic with capturing Shylah’s torment.
