About this listen

Among the Shadowdwellers, Trace holds power that some are willing to kill for. Without a stranger's aid, one rival would surely have succeeded, but Trace's brush with death is less surprising to him than his reaction to the beautiful, fragile human who heals him. By rights, Trace should hardly even register Ashla's existence within the realm of Shadowscape, but instead he is drawn to everything about her-her innocence, her courage, and her lush, sensual heat. After a terrifying car crash, Ashla Townsend wakes up to find that the bustling New York she knew is now eerie and desolate. Just when she's convinced she's alone, Ashla is confronted by a dark warrior who draws her deeper into a world she never knew existed. The bond between Ashla and Trace is a mystery to both, but searching for answers will mean confronting long-hidden secrets, and uncovering a threat that could destroy everything Trace holds precious.

Critic reviews

"This romantic and strongly sexual story between complicated characters is made even richer by an intriguing secondary cast and efficient world-building that's familiar without being lazy." ( Publishers Weekly)

Dwell in the land of Shadows

This is a great launch to the world of the Shadowdwellers. Jacquelyn does a superb job introducing us to this exotic dark vampirism culture. It’s always interesting introducing the struggle between religion and state. The strong females and males that take on governing this usual world are dynamic and fascinating. And with all that is going you are still drawn into the heat that Trace feels for Ashla. But more important is you want them to make it and you them to over come. Yes, this is hot and steamy, but more important it is good start to what we hope will be a great series. Kristen Potter does a great job with the narrations.

Best. Erotica. EVER.

Ok. I love the super natural elements. Big fan of light fantasy.. But the real reason this book has become one of my favorites is the erotica elements. I read a lot of romance & erotica novels. This book takes the cake. Lengthy, unabashed description of passionate 'love-making.' The unabashed style is even oh so right for the Shadowdweller culture. Ecstasy is certainly the prefect title for a tale that left me satisfied.

Back Button Needed

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not. The book was all over the place.

What could Jacquelyn Frank have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The story line was all over. I love her other books, but this one I had to keep going back because I felt like I missed something. But I didn't the story changed without explanation. It just seamed this was hastily written.

What three words best describe Kirsten Potter’s voice?

Pleasant.

Do you think Ecstasy needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The ending was left open, but unless I am desperate for a read, I won't read the next one.

OH BOY!

J.F has done it again! And once again I hesitated because of all the negative reviews! It took my 5 months before I finally took the plunge! Having listened to the Nightwalker series and utterly loved each and every book... Most reviews indicate that the Shadowdweller series is just not as good.... Well I disagree! Just like her other series... The start is a bit slow but that is because she takes the time to explain how this new world works....after a few chapters BAM the listen sinks into you.... Keeping you captive & yearning for the next moment..... At the end of this listen.... I am still all tingly and just darn eager for the next book! Bonus: a visit from a very much loved Nightwalker!

I love this narrator... Always have and never second guess a listen because she has proven over and over again that she can catch & keep my attention!

Worth the perseverance

Some reviewers commented on how slow it was but trust the process. There is a lot of work building that is important to understand and it mostly certainly pays off. I truly love the relations and characters. Plus Ms. Potter does a spectacular job with narrating. She’s o e of my favorites.

Hopeful beginning for new series

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

I love the narrator and have looked for other titles just based on her narrations.

Any additional comments?

Wish the series spinoff had started with the characters known from the other series.

ROMANCE, DRAMA, ECTASY

If you could sum up Ecstasy in three words, what would they be?

Romantically, deliciously, dramatic.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the entire story, but loved watching Ashla grow strong and brave and watching Trace's relationship with her change.

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a great narrator. Have listened to her in other book and think she does a wonderful job. Men's voices could be a little gruffer, but not really a complaint.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

The only complaint I had about the book was the ending. Without giving anything away and letting readers/listeners know it in no way detracts from the story, I would like to have had more of a "finish" to the main characters' story.
