Entertaining but a little overwritten

I really enjoyed this one. It was a solid sequel. Not as good as the first one but worth a listen.

The characters were great and the story was interesting. The pacing was a little off and honestly it could have been a little shorter and gave the reader the same effect.

Amazing world building, deep characters

I really liked the world building of the entire series, and liked how the book describes the inner workings of a multiversal bureaucracy. The characters were very unique, and had a lot of backstory that fit each of them. They changed throughout the series, being effected by the events occuring in a natural way. Except for Paz; seriously? I couldn't find any large plot holes. 9/10 would recommend

Even better than the first. My favorite are all of the characters. Excellent performance as well!

The universe created by the author

Some storylines were predictable but only a few. By far the characters and story was engaging and entertaining.

Stunning world building

Great follow-up to book 1. Very intricate but easy to follow, M.R. Carey is a genius at world and character building. Dami Olukoya is a fabulous narrator, easily differentiating between character and accents. I so thoroughly enjoyed Book 1, and Book 2 did not disappoint. Given the advent of AI in our current world, and our constant penchant for war mongering, it is a fascinating story on many levels. I would give it 8 stars I could. Get it, you won’t be disappointed.

Really thoughtful and engaging.

I enjoyed the first book of this series and this one to me was even better. Without giving anything away, the stakes in this story couldn’t have been higher, so the story was very gripping. The characters were extremely well drawn and compelling.

But the thing I liked most was how the author did such a good job imagining how these characters (human and other) perceived things and thought about them. It was really imaginative and free of easy cliches. And the narrator was wonderful,
Her voicing and delivery of the various characters was so good, it really added to the story. I really enjoyed this book!

Really good story I want to see the characters I look forward to a movie

A full and complete story

Even though this is book two of what is obviously going to be a huge series I did appreciate that this book has a satisfying ending. The primary story is complete and they wrap up all lose ends from book one

Great sequel

This is shaping up to be a good series. I'm hoping for a book 3. I've enjoyed getting to know the characters and the worlds.

Good world building.

I enjoyed reading and hope to read future stories about this world. The narration was acceptable and didn't distract from the story.
