Acerca de esta escucha

A broken body. A mysterious world. It'll take all his intelligence to survive.

After close brush with death, Garrett realizes that he’s in a new world. And worse, he’s missing an arm and paralyzed from the waist down. A fact that doesn’t deter the brutal gang lord whose floor he’s crashing on from wanting to throw him out into the street.

The only thing standing between Garrett and a cold death at the mercy of the city’s scavengers are his own wits and a plucky young woman.

Armed with a system that gives him experience for exploring his new world, Garrett is determined to do whatever it takes to keep himself safe from the threats closing in all around him. Even if it means becoming a villain.

But the inn and city are far from what they seem.

Terrifying creatures lurk around every corner and there is no weapon that can stop them. A strange lucid dream world hovers on the edge of Garrett's consciousness, and it isn’t content to stay a dream. When it starts bleeding into the real world, Garrett realizes that the hostile gangs around him are the least of his worries …

Don't miss book one of a new fantasy LitRPG series by Seth Ring, bestselling author of Nova Terra and Battle Mage Farmer. Join Garrett as he uses his intelligence and talents to make himself useful in a harsh reality, proving it takes more than just muscles to be strong.

I think this book has a lot of potential, with the interesting concept and a narrator as good as Kramer. However, I found that in the early section, the LitRPG elements and powers in general were poorly worded and felt very clunky to read. That, combined with Kramer not trying his hardest already was making me mildly annoyed with the book. Then add to that our main character not having a discernible personality, and I'm going to have to bow out.

It's good that the author decided to actually address how occupying a body would be complicated, but his handling isn't very good. Garret is both one person, melded from two, and also has two personalities. It's not something interesting like bipolarity, nor are they fighting for control, or anything like that. The worst part is, I don't actually like either one. The earth personality is a cold, shady broker of some sort, and the fantasy personality is a young aide. Neither bring anything interesting to the table, other than math skills, a dislike for the current situation, and mild sociopathy. As far as I can tell, their personalities aren't even that strong. YMMV, but I just don't enjoy him. Again, the clumsy prose isn't helping anything here either.

I'll give this one a soft recommendation, since I'm generally very picky and historically have absurd standards, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Clumsy Prose and an Indicernible Main Character

I think the listening audience will enjoy the journey that this book takes the listener on. Also, I believe this story best exemplifies the power of the mind. I would say the narration is somewhat weak if it has one flaw. However, it is an excellent story that is well worth the credit.

Enjoyable

All around, I loved it. Michael Kramer does magnificent work in every piece he does. And not to mention Seth Ring, gohlee does he ever make full and entwining stories.

F**ing perfect

I got this on a whim bec of the Eldridge under tones. But m shocked that it was so good. A lot of story’s with other worldly beings have them be able to eat stuff but it’s good to have one similar to the king in yellow. (That’s just a guess and I have no idea where the story is going or who the big bosses are)

It kept me guessing and has great pacing. Can’t wait for the other books.

I’m Shocked

Shows the realistic struggles of someone who has these sorts of Disabilities within this type of society It shows a very smart way of dealing with that as well as dealing with how people react to them That was a good progression in the story that allows us to see this person as they go through the dream and the waking world

realistic beginning Is Ander slice of life

Very nice start to a new series. Love Seth and all his work so to see he has this going as well and Mr. Kramer to boot. Killer combo

Loved it

Seth Ring is one of my top authors because of his ability to create series that are unique and entertaining. Dreamer's Throne fits nicely in that role. There are a number of atypical aspects with this series from having a handicapped MC and a class system that is really kind of spooky in its skills set. While the the fantasy is ostensibly Isekai in nature, the Earth backstory is left somewhat thin throughout Book 1. There is not a lot of world building other than defining the realm as medieval in surroundings. The pacing steadily moves forward without a lot of introspection. I would classify the age rating as YA but there are definitely brutal battle encounters.

In all, I enjoyed the novelty of the book and the stellar performance of Michael Kramer and look forward to the next book in the series.

A Very Original Progression Fantasy

The story is a survival quest. If you know Seth then you know he’s a great writer. Still, survival quests always have a lack of arch-plot. The only mission is to survive and figure out what the weird dream world is.
The mc is pretty cool.

Intriguing

It has quite a few slow parts, but the concept is good. Hoping it will pick up more as the series goes on.

Good story so far....

The book was super good. I just didn't like the voice actor's performance with regards to Paulice and specifically with the way he pronounced 'advertisement' in chapter 34 or something.

Good book! Great story
