Publisher's summary

The Grey Wardens are heroes across Thedas once again: The Archdemon has been defeated with relative ease, and the scattered darkspawn are being driven back underground. The Blight is over. Or so it seems.

Valya, a young elven mage recently recruited into the Wardens, has been tasked with studying the historical record of previous Blights in order to gain insight into newly reported and disturbing darkspawn phenomena. Her research into the Fourth Blight leads her to an encoded reference scrawled in the margins of an ancient map and to the hidden diary of Issenya, one of the last of the fabled griffon riders. As the dark secrets buried in Isseyna's story unfold, Valya begins to question everything she thought she knew about the heroic Grey Wardens.

Prepare to laugh and cry.

A heart wrenching but great story. Always wondered what the Grey Wardens were like with their Griffins and 'Last Flight' gave me the chance to see them in action.

Not my favorite of the series.

I had points where I considered dropping this novel, but it always seemed to pick back up just when I was about to put it down.

Great Payoff; Odd Narrator Choice

The drama surrounding the Grey Wardens and their griffins in the 4th Blight was compelling. I wish more Dragon Age books focused around the Wardens, who's war against the Darkspawn is the most unique part of the setting.

The narrator does a good job, it's just odd that they chose a male narrator when both POV characters, and most of the supporting cast, are female. Doesn't ruin anything, not by a longshot, but I feel that a female narrator could have brought the characters more to life.

Great Lore and Lead up

I finished this book much quicker than most of the other books in Dragon Age Novel series. I appreciated that there wasn't a poorly written love triangle,or any, in this book! It's also got me very hype for the next Dragon Age installment, I'm also working my way through Tevinter Nights but so far I'm more excited about this! I'm always a fan of lore and there was a lot on Griffons, Grey Wardens, and the 4th Blight.

emotional

I cried alot towards the end. the parallels between Valya and Isseyna was nice. both elven mages who had the griffin's best interest at heart (one being misguided and accidentally causing harm) forgivable. she thought she was saving them not causing their doom.
