Editorial reviews

Morris Gleitzman gives a delightful performance of his poignant, funny novel Doubting Thomas. His dulcet voice and intimate delivery create the perfect atmosphere for this heartwarming audiobook about family and growing up. Eleven-year-old Thomas has a mom, dad, and older sister, Alisha. Everything was going fine in his life until two weeks prior, when he was hit with a strange affliction. Now when he lies, his nipples become unbearably itchy. How embarrassing! His friends Kevin and Holly attempt to help him find a cure.

Critic reviews

"Morris Gleitzman has a rare gift for writing very funny stories and wrapping very serious stories inside them." (The Guardian)
"A virtuoso demonstration of how you can make comedy out of the most unlikely subject." (The Sunday Times)
"Can body parts be lie detectors? Thomas discovers he is a doubter, one of the few children who truly can detect when people are telling lies. Using this talent, Thomas becomes a game show celebrity and the one who restores harmony in his own family. Gleitzman's intimacy with his characters comes across in the nuances of his narration. As Thomas, Gleitzman can garner sympathy as schoolmates ostracize him, anticipation as he faces the cameras, and admiration as he maintains respect for his parents. Gleitzman perfects the annoying sister, the dejected parent, the bully-turned-buddy, and the crotchety husband. Join Thomas for a zany adventure that takes listeners from Australia to the Catacombs of Paris." (AudioFile Magazine)
