Acerca de esta escucha

The latest twist-filled novel in award-winning New York Times bestselling author Mary Monroe’s Depression-era Alabama saga tells the riveting tale of identical twin sisters with a talent for switching lives and hiding the scandalous results—until one risk too many changes the game forever.

Since childhood, identical twins Leona and Fiona Dunbar have been getting in—and out—of trouble by pretending to be each other. Yet underneath, they couldn’t be more different.

Outspoken Leona lives to break rules, have a good time, and scandalize their respectable hometown of Lexington. Fiona is a seemingly demure churchgoing girl who is the apple of her domineering, widowed mother Mavis’s eye. But together, the twins have fooled teachers, boyfriends, bosses, racist police—and most importantly, straitlaced Mavis. Even when Leona does jail time for Fiona, their unbreakable bond keeps them fiercely loyal.

So when Fiona feels stifled in her passionless marriage, and Leona is heartbroken over losing her one true love, it’s perfect timing to change places once again Leona is shocked to discover she enjoys the security of being a wife and homebody. And the unexpected spark between her and Fiona’s husband is giving her all kinds of deliciously sexy ideas.

Meanwhile, Fiona enjoys being free, single, and reveling in the independence she’s never had. And the more she indulges her secret, long-repressed wild child, the more Leona’s ex-lover becomes one temptation she’s having trouble resisting

As the sisters’ masquerade ignites desires and appetites they never expected, it also puts their most damning secrets on the line. Once the fallout rocks their small town, can Fiona and Leona’s deep sisterhood shield them from total disaster and help them reconcile their mistakes? Or will the trust between them become a weapon that shatters their lives for good?

I think this has been my favorite out of the series. In the beginning I hated how Leona took the blame for everything Fiona did, but in the end it all worked out.

I absolutely love all of Mary Monroe’s books. She takes you to a place you may have never been. All the characters entertain me; some you may love, and others have a strong dislike. I am a Gen X, and I can picture the old scenes that I never witnessed. Thank you, Mary Monroe!! I appreciate your hard work!!!

Mary Monroe does it again!

As usual Mary Monroe did not disappoint, loved the twist and turns, the humor, the vivid descriptions that transported the reader back to the early 1900s… the narrator too did an amazing job ❤️

Love Love Loved it

A story that took a twist, and another twist that kept you wanting to know more about the sisters and their mischief. What we didn't know was the behavior of the twins was only the residue of their mothers past - she behave the same as her girls. The end was leaving me choking as everything was being revealed. Great ending. MM never fail with her writing deliverance.

Out of the Lexington, AL series, Mrs. Wiggins and Double Lives is my all time favorite!!!! This story was well written and kept me interested from beginning to the end! Mary Monroe knows how to pull you in and keep your interest on what’s going to happen next! I cannot wait to read/listen to more!!!

! Amazing filled with climatic points all throughout the book ! I love this book one of the best I have read ; better than the momma Ruby series and I loved some momma Ruby

Their own momma couldn’t tell them apart ! But Jubal was more in tuned !

I didn't like the end... of course! I wish Fiona could have fought Bunny Sue off and lived. However... THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING BOOK!!!

the narrator's tone and pitch

This story is so preposterous that I'm shocked it's a Mary Monroe novel.

To be a twin and to be taken advantage of over and over and over again by my wombmate is INCONCEIVABLE.
I was livid by chapter 3 and it's taking EVERYTHING in me to keep reading.

I'm still listening, so I'll be back after I've finished.

Edited: The story was good, not great. The twin's death was avoidable and I'm disappointed. However, I'm a loyal fan of MM and I'm not to expect to love all of her projects.

I'm glad I was a single birth

Even as a period piece (which painted an accurate backdrop) the story was a little slow for me. But on the downhill slide it started coming together and the ending made it all worthwhile.

You have to listen until the end for the slow build-up to make sense.
