Acerca de esta escucha

In Wendy Walker's thrilling novel Don't Look for Me, the greatest risk isn’t running away. It’s running out of time.

One night, Molly Clarke walked away from her life.

She doesn't want to be found.

Or at least, that's the story.

The car abandoned miles from home.

The note found at a nearby hotel.

The shattered family that couldn’t be put back together.

They called it a “walk away.” It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over. But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke?

A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Press

Don't Look for Me is:

“Exemplary. Distinctive, well-developed characters complement the skillfully paced plot. This moving look at the bond between a mother and her children reinforces Walker’s place at the top of the genre.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

“Gripping...with unexpected twists.... You’ve got a cracking mystery on your hands.” (Adrian McKinty, author of The Chain)

“A nailbiter.... So much more than a twisty thriller. It’s heartbreaking portrait of a family coping with grief and an insightful study of guilt and blame, gaslighting and agency. If you love fast-paced page-turners with relatable, flawed characters, look no further!" (Angie Kim, author of Miracle Creek)

"Sharp, nuanced, utterly real, and absolutely terrifying, this beautifully written and emotionally powerful novel is Walker at her best!" (Karen Dionne, author of The Marsh King's Daughter)

"Unsettling in the very best way and truly riveting." (Samantha Downing, author of My Lovely Wife)

"A pulse-pounding, thrill ride of a novel with heart." (Kathleen Barber, author of Truth Be Told)

"A master class in psychological suspense." (Cristina Alger, author of Girls Like Us)

I almost stopped listening to it a couple of times. I feel like I just listened to a lifetime movie vs. watching one. The narrator was good. If you have time to kill and extra credits to spend - go for it.

Lifetime Movie

The best thriller/crime book I've read since Gone Girl. definitely stick with it as the first few chapters were a bit intense.

Don't miss this book!

A few years ago I listened to Emma in the Night and absolutely loved it, so when I saw this latest novel from Wendy Walker, I kinda just auto-bought it.

The book sets itself up well enough, establishing the back story and family dynamics; Molly and Nic and the rest are interesting enough to warrant emotional reactions to the plot...you know, it's fine. But then things just drag on for a bit. Around the halfway point I was pretty sure I knew how the story would end, and I thought about just skipping to the end to confirm my suspicions. I didn't. I listened through and let the story play out, and I'm not mad about it. Glowing review, I know. The story picks up in the back third, and I was only partially right about the ending.

-1 star because I didn't LOVE it, and -1 star because it let me consider not finishing it. Therese Plummer's rendition was pretty good, save for a few lines that were noticeably too much. I think Emma in the Night is a better story, and I think the reviewers comparing this book to Gone Girl are wrong.

It's fine

I'm torn here. On the one hand, I enjoy her writing style and the depth of her characters, but on the other, she can bog the story down a bit with too much repetitive introspection go for long periods where nothing happens. I wasn't quite so bothered by it in her other 2, but the narrator of this one made some moments nearly unbearable. And I feel the same way about the narrator as I do about the author. When she's narrating normally, she's nice to listen to, but she has this super annoying habit of pausing before certain words unnecessarily or dragging out the beginning of a word as if she's trying to make the character sound like they're thinking super hard about what they're saying, and she can be nauseating overdramatic. I don't like bone dry narration, but if every other scene sounds like she's about to cry, it loses its impact. Most of this is personal preference, I guess, but this one was just so-so for me.

Not her best

Slow start but gets very interesting- I ran through it quickly. Creepy but good.

This one sucked me in right from the start and did not let me go until the end. I’ve been in a book slump lately where I’ve been struggling to stay focused or the books have been so hard to follow that I have to keep rewinding them to figure out who is who and what’s going on. This one was such an easy listen that I almost finished it in one day. The suspense was great throughout and even though I got it on sale, I would’ve been happy to spend a credit on it.

Loved it!

It was a good story. The back and forth bothered me a little but it played out well. The little girls lines were kind of weird but overall it was alright

Easy go guess by the middle
