About this listen

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted–and then she was a wolf.

All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock. And that was the moment he showed up. Handsome, mysterious, bossy as hell. Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And two, I was born to kill them.

Loved it

I just love this storyline and the characters are both quirky and adventurous. The female lead shows amazing courage even though she doesn't know everything. Then there is the narrator I just love her and the way she speaks.

So Good!

I loved the whole concept of this book. The characters were well fleshed-out, the world-building was great, and the story-line is still fairly fresh even in a genre that has almost done it all. I also did mostly enjoy the narration as well. However, sometimes, the narration felt like I was listening to a game show host, but it's saved by her character voices. Overall, still a good book to listen to.

Interesting take on werewolves

This is the first book I have ever read or heard from this author. I was given the opportunity to hear this book in audible and the narrator did a wonderful job creating unique voices for each character. I also read the book along with listening, I find this helps me get into the story more quickly. It also helps me to know the spelling of the names. In this series we are introduced to werewolves and hunters, two supernatural breeds living among the humans. Our main character, Tara leaves a school function and runs into a werewolf and to protect herself, discovers latent skills of a hunter in her blood when she kills the werewolf. This thrusts her into a world like you never thought existed. Helped by Wes she starts to learn about this new life and starts to notice an attraction she can't deny. Tara discovers that hunters and werewolves aren't always enemies and Wes is the product of both, gifted with the characteristics of both but the werewolf side being dominant he's termed a "dirty blood" and only those who seek for peace between the two groups welcome him. More secrets come to light as the story progressed. I really enjoyed the characters and storyline, plenty of action and romance. Highly recommend, looking forward to reading more.

The reader, her voice was spot on with teenagers.

This book wasnt for me. I'm 34yo. And main characters are 17-19. I can handle-love books that main characters ages are such. But this book I had a hard time bc of such. HOWEVER it was a incredible story. The plots and twists were on your edge of the seat kind of book. It was holding my interest completely. I just don't think I can read the next. But I definitely recommend for upper teens!

Very good read

Great plot. Story ended well, but leaves you guessing about the future. Probably will read the next one. Only problem was wolves speaking. Anyone with half a brain knows that would be physically impossible for them to talk and the sound be the same as a human. Even fantasy can't make that happen. Should've had them mind speak! There's some fantasy!

OMG!

Its very rare that a books draws me in this quickly. I liked this book from beginning to end. I thought that the story brought a different twist to the whole werewolf story line that you see in books these days. I liked the characters from the beginning and I figured out early who I thought was well shady in the group. The narration was good, little off with some of the guys voices I thought but over all really good. I can not wait to see what happens next.

This Was Actually So Good?

Let's get a few facts about me out of the way first. I do not enjoy reading werewolf stories. I never fell in love with the genre (especially after Twilight came out). i couldn't understand the allure or the intrigue. After all, these stories tend to be love stories with the canine family that just so happens to be human after all. They marketed as "My Secret Love With the Alpha" or some other inner-pack type complicated hierarchy love story.

This was difference. Dirty Blood had an extreme amount of more depth to it than the love plot inside. I eagerly decided to give this book a chance for the story and the articulate word choice and I wasn't disappionted. Hildenbrand is amazing at stringing words along in her tale to take her reader to another world without feeling too repetitive or cliche. Dirty Blood is like a roller coaster of ups and downs and emotions. The main character is likeable and relatable even when I didn't agree with her reactions or decisions. It takes a truly great author to accomplish that, as many protagonists are just vessels to show the reader an amazing new world - they get old, plain, annoying, and boring eventually. Not Tera. I was gripped by her story from the very start.

At first I was taken aback by Pruner's aggressive narration. But once I got used to her forward way of acting, I fell in love with the emotion and energy she uses to voice all the different characters. Each character has their own type of nuance and that definitely made my listening experience amazing.

I've been listening to this book for a while now and I loved every second of it. I'm so glad that I was able to actually get into and enjoy a genre I normally don't dabble in.

Love the story

Would you consider the audio edition of Dirty Blood to be better than the print version?

I have read and listened to both versions of Dirty Blood. While I do not prefer to listen to the book, I did enjoy listening to Dirty Blood. I got a ton of stuff done while I was listening to Dirty Blood.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the suspense that was throughout the entire book. There wasn't anytime that I was completely relaxed, there was so much that was happening in the book that I was constantly needing the reader to hurry up so I could find out what was going to happen

Which scene was your favorite?

I like the scenes when Wes was with her. Tara became more relaxed when he was around. That isn't to say that the whole time he was with her was she relaxed, she just seemed to be more relaxed when he was with her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, I can't say that I was moved at all in the book, and I don't think that this is that kind of book.

Any additional comments?

I received this in exchange for my honest opinions.
