About this listen

In Diablo Lake, Tennessee, a town populated by werewolves, witches, and more, magic woven deep into the earth protects the town's secrets from outsiders.

Katie Grady left Diablo Lake to get over a humiliating breakup. But her family needs her help, so she's back, in a sublet right across the hall from the guy she's lusted after for years. Jace Dooley is hotter than ever, and their friendship picks up along with massive doses of grown-up chemistry.

The very scent of Katie sharpens Jace's canines, makes the wolf within him stir. There's nothing more alluring to a Pack Alpha than a sexy female who is so very in charge. She won't be coddled, but if he plays his hand just right she might be convinced to become his.

Katie presents a challenge to Jace's wolf nature, whose chief instinct is to protect. Especially now that she's coming into the magic that is her birthright - and suddenly Jace isn't the only one who's interested in Katie or the raw power she's just learning to use.

I really liked all the shape shifting, werewolf and witches. Abby Craden did an excellent job narrating. I didn't care for the ending. I'm hoping #2 book will have the confrontation between Katie Faith and Scarlett in it. We'll see......

Interesting spin on weres and witches. I liked the dynamics and power struggles between the two groups. The characters are well written, and the story itself was interesting. There's some "heat" to this one, and an HEA. Definitely a fun read

Liked it!

If you could sum up Diablo Lake: Moonstruck in three words, what would they be?

Intriguing, sexy, and suspensful

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the story and the characters. The narrator brought not only the story, but the character voices to life in a nice and easy manner.

While I enjoyed the story, I was getting agitated with The Pembry wolves. I mean, Darryl left her at the altar and now that she's back, he's been giving her nothing but grief. He needs to move on, but there's something more to the story. The wolves are at odds with each other and the witches are growing restless with the discord. What we need to know is what is the story of Jaces fathers death? How will Katy Faith ( I hate that name) and Jaces life change now that there married and Prime?

The story was good. It moved at a nice pace, there was the right amount of sassiness, the right amount of sex and sultry behavior. Lauren Dane can weave a mighty take and she didn't disappoint.

Great read

What a great start to a new series. I have to say I wasn’t sure how it would work because well I have never read a paranormal book by Lauren Dane. But for me she knocked it out of the park.

I love the balance between wolves and witches. I also loooovvvvveeed that they were not the ones at odds but it was pack again pack kind of can’t really give to too much away there.

So we have Katie Grady coming back to Diablo Lake because her dad became ill and her family needed her. She left because of a pretty bad break up and she needed some time to heal and find her place in the world.

Coming back wasn’t easy but Jace makes it worth it. Jace has always had a soft spot for Katie; it just took Katie a little longer to see it. And there romance is one for the story books.

All I can say is this world really comes to life with this narrator. I want more and can’t wait for the next book to be released in audio I will be one of the girls to buy it that’s for dang sure.

Really wasn’t a fan of the narrator and the different voices she did. I might check out the book to continue reading because I’ve liked Lauren Dane’s books in the past.

Didn’t like the narrator

Would you listen to Diablo Lake: Moonstruck again? Why?

Have listened to it again when I need to relax. The dialogue is witty, and the protagonists are engaging.

What other book might you compare Diablo Lake: Moonstruck to and why?

This is the paranormal version of her Petal/Chase series, which I absolutely love. It has a true Southern feel.

Have you listened to any of Abby Craden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She does a fine job with all voices, especially those of the different male characters.

Any additional comments?

It is not War and Peace, but it is entertaining and relaxing.

Sassy and Fun

Basically a romance set in the closed community of Diablo Lake, Tennessee. Yeah, it still sounds like a guy insisted on that town name which does not fit the story. Even if the town is mostly witches and shapeshifting wolves and big cats. There’s conflict between the two wolf packs, but this is no gritty tale. There’s a hefty dose of southern Magnolia women.
The primary characters of the story are Katie Faith, a witch coming into her powers, and Jace, next in line to take over the Dooley wolf pack. Both get a lot of grief from the Pembry Patrons aka Alpha couple and their son who left Katie at the altar.
I like Craden’s distinctive lower pitch.
