About this listen

Have you ever loved someone so much that it hurt?

I have.

Have you ever cherished the pain because you knew the kind you'd face without them would be way too unbearable?

That's me.

To young Neeka Perry, Denny is one thing. In the streets, he's a whole other entity. She was brave enough to love both sides, upside down, all around, and back again.

He provided her with all a girl could believe she dreamed of—security, desire, and, most enviably, genuine love, all wrapped up in gold and diamonds.

He removed her far from the course of her ordinary college girl lifestyle and swept her into his world of whimsical madness.

For this and more, her love went beyond loyalty. She was devout… devout to him.

But is there such a thing as too much passion? Can you love someone too much?

And when you realize the person you love, and the person everyone fears, can also be the one everyone loves, and you can one day soon fear, who will save you?

Especially when the person you need saving from is yourself?

Stop right there. I don't want to be saved.

I've shackled myself to him with love. And I swallowed the key.

I'm in this for the long run.

I am devout.

Morae Brehon!!!!

I will admit, I was more excited to hear Winston bring Denny to life in my anticipation of this audio release. imagine my surprise when Ms. Morae Brehon absolutely bodied this entire performance! She brought this stories to life in such an amazing way. Now don't get me wrong, WJ ain't no slouch, He definitely did his thing, but fir some reason, I didn't remember Ty having so many POV's in book 1.
Hearing this story play out touched me in such a different way than when I read it. Even though I knew what to expect, these narrators helped make the story fresh. They both did a brilliant job. Takerra Allen never misses and every story is highly recommended by me.

HOT HOT HOT

This book was good from beginning to the end. The narrators were awesome, the storyline was great. At first I thought he was just obsessed with her but to find out it was that and more to the point of mental disorder. I think she had issues as well, like the the doctor said she was waiting for her daddy to approve knowing that he wouldn't. So that was a way for her to hold things off with the wedding. I really loved the drama between friends and everyday life of a drug king and that was craaaaaazzzzzzy. Can't wait to see what the next book brings.

Amazzzinnggggg

I never write reviews, but this book was truly amazing, and I love the fact that the author was brave enough to discuss the underlying mental illnesses in the black community and how black men tend to suffer in silence

Intoxicating

What a storyline! In the beginning, I was thinking, what mess is this? But as the plot went on, I became more enthralled. Some of the scenes were so intense. I actually felt like I was at the comedy show with them! That whole scene was wild!

Also, while Denny is navigating his mental health issues, and I’m glad he went to seek help, Neeka needs her own therapist. Whew, this girl annoyed me badly. I kept having to remind myself she was so young.

Morae did a good job, but I know Adenrele Ojo’s voice when I hear it. I’m a little disappointed we didn’t hear Denny’s POV until the end of the book. Still, Winston James is a great narrator and always brings the male characters to life!

Patiently waiting on Devout Too.

Amazing Narration

I’m usually not a fan of Morae but BABBBBBYYY. She did her thing with this one but the story is well written which makes the performance even better!!

WOW!!!!!!

Oh my stars, "Devout" is a rollercoaster of emotions that had me shouting WOW from the rooftops! This audiobook experience was like diving into a whirlwind of feels, and I couldn't get enough.

First off, major kudos to the narrators. They didn't just read the story; they infused it with soul. Each character felt like a friend I'd known forever, thanks to their incredible performances. It's like they sprinkled magic dust on the words, making them come alive in my mind.

And can we talk about timing? Just as I finished soaking in the last word of "Devout," I discovered that Book 2 was dropping the very next day! I nearly did a happy dance because waiting would have been torture. Lucky for me, I jumped right into the sequel and let me tell you, it's a wild ride too.

The story itself? Utterly captivating. It's a mix of laughter, tears, gasps, and everything in between. The characters are so real, so flawed and lovable, that I couldn't help but root for them every step of the way. The plot twists? Absolutely genius.

If you're looking for an audiobook that'll grab your heart and not let go, "Devout" is it. Trust me, the narrators are like secret weapons, making the experience ten times more incredible. Don't walk, don't run – sprint to get your hands (or ears) on this gem. You'll thank me later!
