About this listen

What if an uncontrollable zombie outbreak took place in a world that contains vampires?

In Dominion of the Damned, the vampires seize their chance to overpower humanity, herd them into labor camps, establish blood mills, and prevent the extinction of their only food supply.

Hannah Jordan is a human survivor whose sole mission is to stay alive so she can prevent her orphaned baby brother from becoming monster food.

Aleksandr Konstantin is a vampire whose ideas about how best to preserve humanity are at odds with the established powers that be. He's also a doctor and scientist intent on finding a way to end the zombie threat for good.

When their paths cross, the doctor has a new mission in mind for Hannah - one that he claims could place humanity on equal footing with their vampire overlords. But can she trust him? With her brother's safety at stake, does she really have a choice?

The first book in the Trilogy of the Damned is a fast-paced thrill-ride that combines the scares of classic zombie horror, the dark romance of a vampire drama, and the intrigue of a dystopian thriller.

Includes the first look at Deliverance of the Damned, the second installment of the Trilogy of the Damned!

Vampires with a touch of zombies

Absolutely loved this book. It was exciting from start to finish. Story is mainly about vampires with the zombies mentioned every now and then. Someone mentioned the age difference between two characters. If it’s the end of civilization it doesn’t much matter. Enjoyed all the characters. The narrator did a great job. The end was wrapped up enough to where you’re not stuck with a huge cliffhanger. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book. I received this audiobook for free but it’s definitely worth a credit.

Very original ideas! I'm a huge vampire fan and this book was a great original idea! Very likable (and not so likable) characters. Original plot, with twists and turns. Engrossing from the beginning. I enjoyed this one a great deal. I am looking forward to getting the rest of the series when I can to continue the journey!

Narration was well done!

I recomend to any horror, sci fi, apocalypse thriller or medical thriller fan as it melds all of those together!

Change the world!

We’re treated to an apocalypse twist where humans, zombies, and vampires inhabit the countryside. The zombies and vampires both want humans for food. The vampires protect humans as their food source, and the humans serve the vampires in turn. Our protagonist vampire Dr. Aleksandr Konstantin (Alex) has a different idea; he subscribes to the “Can’t we all just get along” motto. Alex believes humans and vampires can coexist peacefully if they simply respect each other, rather than the current master/slave situation. Alex presently oversees a small peaceful community of humans and vampires who protect and willingly provide sustenance for each other. Not everyone is happy with this arrangement. The story is well-written and contains some wonderful emotional and personality qualities woven in; i.e., Hannah. I enjoyed the story and look forward to the rest of the trilogy. Great start, lots of fast-paced action!

Dominion of the Damned (Trilogy of the Damned, Book 1) by Jean Marie Bauhaus and narrated by Raquel Beattie is a difficult one to put down- a must listen for vampire and zombie fans. 4 ½ stars for story. 5 stars for narration.

What’s it about? During the zombie apocalypse, humans and vampires must work together to remain alive. Unfortunately, Hannah learns it isn’t that easy or safe. While caring for her newborn brother, they are taken by vampires who only want to use them as a food supply. While being held by vampires in a prison camp, Hannah meets Alek, a doctor who wants humans and vampires to live along side one another in peace, or as much as the apocalypse will allow. This is a fast-paced story with lots of action. The only real slow down is when Hannah first goes to Alek’s camp (this is the romance part as well). Without giving other spoilers away, there is quite a bit more to the story.

The narrator, Raquel Beattie, did a wonderful job. I enjoyed the voices and narration all around. I hope she is set to do the future books of this series.

I recommend- I will definitely be checking out the next books and look forward to how the story unfolds.

Parental guidance/trigger warnings: death, forced prostitution (remembering past experiences), loss of child and spouse, memories from WWII (Nazi references, Holocaust), sex, addiction (alcohol), memories of abuse from husband, animal experiments. Language used: sx3.

Day breakers meets the walking dead

So if you took the walking dead and daybreakers you’d come kind of close to this series. The zombie apocalypse is here...humans are getting their asses eaten. Vampires must rise up and protect their food source. Safe zones are created and run by vampires under the direction of the vampire council. Rogue vampires have their way with their charges both in blood and sex. One vampire had a vision. A vision of vampires and humans existing together and thriving. What happens when the council and Mother Nature intervene? Find out in this first installment of a great new trilogy with a fresh perspective. Humans and Vampires and Zombies, Oh My

This was a fun story. Starts out pedal to the metal and never lets up. I don’t think it strayed far from the typical post-apocalyptic story, but the combination of vampires and zombies was a nice touch. To me, this was really a vampire story that just happened to contain zombies. The zombies definitely have a role in the story, and I am really hoping that as the trilogy progresses, there is more involvement with them. I really liked the overall “symbiotic” relationship that the humans had with the vampires and think that the fusion of the two different genres worked out quite well.

I thought the plot seemed somewhat predictable. Not in a bad way, but it definitely felt familiar in many ways. You do get some of the cliché post-apocalyptic events. The unique aspects of the two different genres are what really shine. The overall concept was great, and I really look forward to the continuation of the story. It ended on quite the high note, quite interesting twists, and I am excited for the story to carry on.

The characters were a lot of fun, even though none of them were super special. It almost came off as young adult type characters. Hannah was a good lead character, and while she was a total badass, I didn’t really relate to her much. I enjoyed her story, although I was totally creeped out by her love interest. I usually don’t like relationships where there are notable age gaps, especially when the characters have issues with them. Alek was really my favorite. I liked his sense of morality and the mission he was embarking on. Given his background it is easy to see why he was doing what he was doing and that made me like him even more.

Raquel Beattie did a really good job. I liked her narrating voice and thought she did a good job with the character voices. I thought she had a great cadence with her character voices and you could hear the energy she put into them. I hope she continues to narrate the next two books.

Vampires and Zombies

Ok I love post apoc, and this book is unique in its storyline.
A little bit too much romance for my liking, but still good entertainment.
