What I learned

Two things off the top of my head:
1. Don’t do things out of “duty” but out of love(agape) for the Lord. IE, give, pray
2. Christian Hedonism is...well, I don’t want to give away ending...I’ll just say, it was better than I expected!

John Piper paints a beautiful picture in this book which depicts how the life of a Christian should be used to glorify God in all that you do by delighting in the lord. He cites many great passages of scripture and encourages the reader to challenge his assumptions and ultimately listen to God over all else.

Love Piper Love Grover Love God

This book will help you understand God in a much deeper more meaningful way. It made me love God more, opens up my bible to truths that I never saw before. Now I love John piper's stuff, all of it because he explains CS Lewis in simple terms. And who could understand Lewis without help? Lol great work just heard to decipher. Furthermore I wish every book I listen to was narrated by Grover Gardner, he has such a rich voice full of kindness and a great tone. I would pay to have Grover read all of John's books! I think this is a book every Christian needs to listen to at least once.

Changed my perspective!

Loved it! The concept of enjoying God and my walk with Christ was novel to me. Abiding in God should be something that I enjoy, not drudgery. I especially liked the chapter on suffering. I look forward to reading/listening to this book again!

I revisit this book...

This is a book that I was in the habit of reading every year for about four or five years. I fell out of that habit about 3 years ago and I regret it after having gone through this recently. This is such a great book it should be on every Believer's bookshelf!

great book, irritatingly delivered

I've read this twice I loved it so. However, I did not like the voice of the narrator.

Phenomenal book...less than ideal narration.

I am a huge Piper fan and love his writing and teaching. I recommend this book wholeheartedly. His love for God and his ability to inspire a longing for Christ is a huge blessing. I wasn't a huge fan of the voice they picked for the audiobook, though.

I fell in love with Grover Gardner through the voice of John Piper.

At first, I was distracted by how distinctive was Mr Gardner. Now I seek him out. There are beautiful moments where, I believe, the narrator’s heart hooks into the true meaning of what the author is saying. Mr Gardner must read his bible too. Mr Piper defines joy in such a way for joy to set in proper. God loves us so very much. Thank you, Mr Piper, Mr Gardner and Audible, I have enjoyed this program very much.
