About this listen

An Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal best seller

A missing woman leads the alpha heroes on their boldest mission yet in New York Times best-selling author Susan Stoker’s searing Mountain Mercenaries novel.

It’s been 10 years since Rex’s wife, Raven, disappeared from a Vegas casino. Never losing hope, he even formed the Mountain Mercenaries to help find her - and other missing wives, sisters, and children. Now Rex and his fearless team are following a lead to Lima, Peru, where the rescue operation is greater than they imagined.

A day at a time. That’s been Raven’s motto for a decade. Once held captive by an elusive sex trafficker, she has an indomitable will to survive. But Raven’s not ready to leave Peru. She can’t. Not yet. Because her liberation from the barrios comes with devastating consequences. One wrong move and all hope will be lost to an unimaginable hell.

For the Mountain Mercenaries, the stakes have been raised. The threats are escalating. But Rex hasn’t searched this long, risked so much, and come this far to lose Raven all over again.

Perfect.

This Mountain Mercenaries series has been wonderful from the start. Each new book seemed to replace the previous one as my favorite as they just kept getting better. But Holy Llama Mama Drama, this one burned down the house.

What a way to end a stellar series--it simply doesn't get any better than this in my opinion. The man who searched for his kidnapped wife for 10 years, who never gave up hope, who was so inspired he created a team that helped countless others in the process, finally gets the lead he's been waiting on. Rex has shown himself, and he's going after Raven.

I love that this was not a simple caveman "snatch and grab." Rex has some high mountains to climb. But if there's ever been anyone willing to prove his love and be patient and gentle while doing it, it's this guy. *5 star swooning*

If you're new to this series, it is possible, but not recommended to read this as a stand-alone. If you simply can't wait to go through the entire series, at the very least I would recommend that you first read book 6, "Defending Zara" to set this story up first. But the best enjoyment will be found if you've read the entire series to understand the different characters and the nuances of their individual stories.

Total enjoyment

I totally enjoyed this story -mostly. The plight of people captured and enslaved in human trafficking is made evident and your heart has to break for them. Raven’s story at least is resolved, her family gets closure and all ends well. I’ve really enjoyed this series!

Rex & Raven's story

This last in the series book was perfect. The decade long search for Rex's wife, which was how the Mountain Mercenaries group came into existence is a great story of everlasting love. The horrors of Maggy's life (Raven) after being kidnapped into human trafficking and how her continued existence is discovered at long last by husband Dave (Rex) is a wonderful completion (HEA) to this series. Stella Bloom's narration totally shines as always.

Great series ending!

Finally Rex finds his wife. Lots of adventures for the Mountain Mercenaries to rescue her and others. Really good story that shows he never gave up & their unyielding love survived horrendous cruelties. I loved the epilogues that showed the whole team as years progressed. More great narration by Stella Bloom.

Best book of the series!

This is by far the best book of the entire series of Mountain Mercenaries! It’s been such a great series and seeing how everything is tied together it’s amazing. Susan Stoker is so fantastic in weaving all the stories together and dropping subtle clues in each of the books. I laughed and cried reading this story and can’t wait to re-listen to the series all over again knowing how it ends!

Great ending to this series!

I have been looking forward to this book since the preview at the end of ‘Zara’...and was not disappointed!! Lots of bad guys and drama but the Mountain Mercenaries came through in the end and Rex/Dave finally got his wife back! The extended epilogue put a neat bow on the series. Narrator’s work on all of the characters helped to make this a series ending to remember.
