About this listen

Are you tired of arguing and fighting with difficult people? Is your life filled with chaos and drama? Are you overly stressed because of how your boss, spouse, child, friend, co-worker, girlfriend, boyfriend or family member is treating you? Are you longing for peace of mind?

In Amber Rain's book, Dealing with Difficult People: Coping with Conflict, Angry People, Abusive Behavior and Rage, you will find the help you need in order to make positive changes in your life.

She has helped tens of thousands of people all over the world, since 2008, learn how to deal with conflicting relationships and she can help you too.

When you are finished listening to this book, you will know how to:

  • Deal with rejection
  • Stop an argument before it has a chance to start
  • Not be a doormat
  • Set boundaries
  • Communicate in an intelligent and empowering way
  • Deal with negative people
  • Get out of harm's way
  • Put an end to being abused
  • Decide what issues are important to address and which ones you should let go of
  • And much more

Ideas from the book on dealing with difficult people:

You cannot change how someone treats you. All you can do is communicate with them in hopes that they will be willing to work out their difficulties.

You have to understand that some people are never going to change. In situations where you are dealing with someone like this, the responsibility for change is going to have to be your own.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Insanity is doing the same things over and over again, expecting different results.

If you feel all of your efforts to work out your differences with someone are pointless, then you have to make changes.

Know the difference

The fact that the book title lists angry people, abusive people, and so on separately is actually really important. Those aren't just different ways of saying the same thing. Dealing with an abusive partner requires very different steps than dealing with an irritating co-worker, and the most important thing is recognizing what kind of situation you're dealing with.

I'm so glad this book exists to help those who have difficulty relating to people around them, and I hope it encourages those trapped in abusive relationships to seek help and take the steps to remove themselves from it.

Interesting & Good Advice, HOWEVER....

Very basic info, but good advice for anyone starting from complete scratch on how to deal with others. EXTREMELY boringly read!! It sounds like "JC Anonymous" (the credited name of the narrator) is a very monotone male computer voice which doesn't have the rhythm of normal American English speakers (or any other English speakers) nor was it trained on parts of a sentence (runs words into next sentence causing the need to pay close attention to understand the intended meaning of the author).

Most People are Difficult

Would you listen to Dealing with Difficult People again? Why?

Yes I would listen to this again. Most people in this world are difficult to deal with, from being spoiled, entitled, or just an ass. This book helps give you the advantage over them by looking into yourself first.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dealing with Difficult People?

All of it. It was just learning about yourself, and how to handle others that works out really well.

Which character – as performed by JC Anonymous – was your favorite?

JC Anonymous just read the whole book. There were no characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I did listen to it in one sitting. It was about half and hour, letting me do my work and learn at the same time.
