Kind of bare bones.

Deadly Resentment is a quick little murder mystery that I think could have been so much more. Chloe Cook is an amateur sleuth and this time around her best friend is accused of a murder. We are treated to a party scene in which we have a ton of characters thrown at us and we see how they all interact/fight, setting up plenty of suspects. Decent starts, right? Then the cops do something that would never happen. They bringing all the potential suspects to the scene of the crime! Unless it's a locked room/house mystery that would never happen. But that's still rather forgivable, it's what happened next that kind of killed the book for me. The story just becomes one Q&A session after another. The detective disappears after telling Chloe to stay out of it, which of course she doesn't. Instead she from person to person and conducting her own investigation. That's it. She goes from one to the next to the next. There is no story other than Chloe questioning the various suspects, and the detective only really shows back up when Chloe is reading to announce who the killer is. The bones of a good story were they, but they just needed some 'meat' on them.

Fun and Cozy!

I really enjoyed this listen by Kayla Michelle. Cozy mysteries to me are refreshing listens that are short and typically solved by someone outside the police. Renee Dorian Begley did a great performance with this book. I enjoyed the story with all of its coincidences and how it was solved. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would listen to more by this author and narrator in the future.

Deadly Resentment

Deadly Resentment is a nice short cozy mystery. Chloe, after being cleared of being a suspect, needs to find the murderer... her good friend is a suspect, but she knows that she couldn’t have possibly done it. The author did a nice job of throwing in a few twists and turns and tied up all the loose ends.

Fun Cozy Mystery!

Chloe meets up with an old friend who was in town for the production of her play. Her friend takes her along to a post production party given by her former drama club, Mayhem occurs to break up the party early. One of the party goers is murdered and Chloe's friend becomes the prime suspect. Chloe goes right to work to clear her friends name. This was a fun short story. I was gifted a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Deadly Resentment

This was a good ,short cozy mystery. If you don't want to have to think too much, this book is for you.Chloes bff is making her big break on stage.Life soon takes a turn in the same direction and Chloe is left to figure out who murdered one of the theater gang.Renee Dorian Begley is a good narrator though I do think she needs to look up words she may not know. They were quite obvious, especially in the beginning of the book.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Chloe is at again

Enjoyed this story. Chloe again, on her own, helps another friend who is in on the police list of suspects for a murder. Again, she questions suspects against the police detectives wishes.

The stories in this series are cute and enjoyable. The narrator did a great job. Again my only negative opinion is i wish they were longer, i received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

Theatre Can Be Deadly

When her best friend is accused of the murder of a local low-life, Chloe swings into action to find the real killer, much to the chagrin of the local police.
This is a well plotted mystery with plenty of likely though mostly unlikable suspects and heroine who is fun to follow through her investigations.
The audio version has a few bad edits (repeated lines) but the book is very well read.
At 2.5 hrs, it's a perfect read for a lazy afternoon or a quick trip out of town.

Fun but often too convenient

This was a short, but fun story. It seemed like she happened to show up at the right time one too many times. But despite the coincidences, it was an enjoyable story to follow.
