About this listen

Only two kinds of people know the exact date and time they'll die - suicides and death row inmates.

Ryan Kowalczyk has spent the last 15 years on death row. Like every other death row inmate, he clung steadfastly to his claim of innocence. Accused of brutally beating two young parents to death with a baseball bat, while their 3 year-old child slept under a blanket in the back seat of the car, no one felt sorry for Kowalczyk, especially Detective Harry Ryman who arrested Ryan for the crime.

After Ryan is executed, his mother, Mary, hires Mason to prove her dead son's innocence and build a case against the man she believes is the actual murderer; her son's best friend. As Mason delves deeper into the case, he journeys further into danger and a dark world rife with fear, deceit, corruption and murder.

If you enjoy the riveting legal thrillers of Scott Turow and the nerve-wracking suspense of Catherine Coulter, you'll love Deadlocked, the fourth in Goldman's action-packed Lou Mason series.

Unusual Take on Pending Execution of Innocent Man

i enjoyed the story and the building up of approaching deadlines. The characters were well defined and actions of the guilty party made him easy to dislike. Mason's books are all well written and move along pretty smoothly. I have read many of his books and look forward to more.

Multiple moving parts

Sometimes It was hard to keep all the characters straight as this is a multi layered story, but the story kept moving and kept me guessing. Narrator was perfect for the part.

Bad Narration

Over disappointed, not what I expected. Narration was so bad I couldn't tell if Goldman is a good writer. We is way off on his facts about nursing homes and Alzheimer units, at least in Florida. I spent 15 years,4 staffing for an agency, working in them. Residents are dressed daily and for the most part not doped up.One thing he had right these homes are under staffed
