About this listen
Audible number-one best seller Peter Clines returns with a thrilling tale of the creature above - and the deadly threat below.
In the year 2243, the Moon belongs to the dead.
The largest graveyard in the solar system, it was the perfect solution to the overcrowding and environmental problems that had plagued mankind for centuries. And the perfect place for Cali Washington to run away from her past.
But when a mysterious meteor crashes into one of the Moon’s cemeteries, Cali and her fellow Caretakers find themselves surrounded by a terrifying enemy force that outnumbers them more than a thousand to one. An enemy not hindered by the lack of air or warmth or sustenance.
An enemy that is already dead.
Now Cali and her compatriots must fight to survive. Because if they don’t, everyone on the Moon may be joining the dead.
And maybe everyone on Earth, too....

Story
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Story
Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Story
Hector was the best of the best. A government operative who could bring armies to a halt and nations to their knees. But when his own country betrayed him, he dropped off the grid and picked up the first of many bottles. Natalie can’t remember much of her life before her family brought her to the US, but she remembers the cages. And getting taken away to the Project with dozens of other young children to become part of their nightmarish experiments. That’s how she ended up with the ghost of a dead secret agent stuck in her head.

Story
Few know the warship’s actual name. But everyone has heard the rumors. The PUV James Keeling can do something no other vessel in existence can do—slip into another dimension, travel undetected, then re-emerge onto our plane and surprise enemy targets. But the thing that makes the Crypt unique also makes it a nightmare for those onboard; interdimensional travel causes hallucinations, violent behavior, and psychotic breakdowns. Keeling could be the Union’s greatest weapon, a game-changing asset that can defeat the bloodthirsty zealots of the Purist Nation, the Union’s mortal enemy.

Story
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Critic reviews
"Narrator Ray Porter actually catches a break with this gruesome science-fiction audiobook. Much of this thriller's cast is composed of thousands of silent zombies, so Porter doesn't have to differentiate much among them.... But he still shines while bringing to life multinational characters, ably employing distinctive accents and timbres. He really ramps up the tension as a dwindling handful of survivors struggles to save humankind from a chilling threat." (AudioFile Magazine)
Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time
The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.
Editor's Pick
Two Words: Moon. Zombies.
"That’s all it took to turn my attention to Dead Moon! I for one can’t imagine anything scarier than combining the isolation of the moon with going head to head with an enemy (or thousands) that don’t need air to survive—but trust me when I say that that’s just scratching the surface. With Peter Clines’s incredible world-building and Ray Porter’s spot-on narration, just add a dash of humor and know that you’ve got a recipe for an un-pause-able listen! Now, I must admit that, despite the rave reviews heard around the Audible offices for 14 and The Fold, I’ve never listened to the Threshold Series. So worry not, whether you’re a fan whose been eagerly awaiting this next installment or a newcomer, Dead Moon stands on its own as a sci-fi thriller that starts out somewhat eerie, and quickly amps up the tension." —Catherine H., Audible Editor

Robinson Crusoe is one of the most enduring adventures of the past four centuries and one of the most well-known works in the English language. Or is it? Recently discovered amidst the papers of the 20th-century writer and historian H. P. Lovecraft is what claims to be the true story of Robinson Crusoe. Taken from the castaway's own journals and memoirs, and fact-checked by Lovecraft himself, it is free from many of Defoe's edits and alterations. From Lovecraft's work a much smoother, simpler tale emerges - but also a far more disturbing one.

Story
Zahra knew every detail of the plan. House of Wisdom, a massive exploration vessel, had been abandoned by the government of Earth a decade earlier, when a deadly virus broke out and killed everyone on board in a matter of hours. But now it could belong to her people if they were bold enough to take it. All they needed to do was kidnap Jaswinder Bhattacharya - the sole survivor of the tragedy, and the last person whose genetic signature would allow entry to the spaceship.

Who Cares?
I had enjoyed everything written by Clines and especially enjoy his Ex series. Both preceding books in this series have made for excellent re-readings and I had high hopes for this one. I was pretty disappointed. I'm not sure what changed but this book gave me a cast of characters that I absolutely, 110%, did NOT care about. I like the idea of a moon based economy surviving on the business of death and then having a zombie uprising, but I think the inclusion of something sort-of, slightly, related to 14 and The Fold was a biiiiiiiig stretch.
While there are some strong (and flexible), female characters, Clines is now writing them in the classic men-writing-women tropes of believing that physical description of their "attributes" or their snaggle tooth, nerdiness and their ballerina dreams makes for actual character development. There is an unnecessary amount of time spent considering how poorly the work uniforms fit the main character's apparently buxom form. Also, every single male/female encounter includes flirting/ sexual innuendo or outright requests for sex- frequently in the midst of horrific events. Although, looking back in 14 and The Fold, most "relationships" had similar issues but the characters themselves were far more interesting so it was less noticeable. The fact that the narrator is also one of those men who always sounds like a Hollywood movie transvestite when he does women's voices does not help. (other than that I do enjoy Ray Porter narration generally)
The pace was also difficult to manage. I think the idea the author had was that the characters were purposely being kept always on the run, so to speak, so they could never make plans, only react. However, it got to the point where it was the written equivalent of simply running up and down a hallway screaming at full volume, pausing only to talk about spending the night with someone, then right back to screaming.
Lastly- there is one conversation between two characters where the male admits to having murdered 3 children by mistake while on foreign soil. The female character is not horrified, shocked or even slightly appalled. Instead, she immediately says it was an accident and he shouldn't let it ruin his life. WTF? I mean, WTF?! Oh, and he says he actually doesn't feel bad about it. The female character then follows up with telling him about her failed efforts to be a ballerina. Thank you Peter Clines for making your leads even more ridiculous and terrible than initially presented.
I finished the book but as I got to the end and discovered who lived, who died, who was safe, etc... all I thought was "who cares?"

Another Great Story by Mr. Clines!!!!!
Now, if you're expecting this book to be a direct sequel to The Fold, it's not. From what I hear, he should be finishing that this year. That being said, I still really enjoyed this book. The premise was great, funny when it needed to be, plenty of action. I would definitely spend the credit. Oh, and Ray Porter performs it, enough said!!!

Another hit from Peter Clines!
I've yet to find a book by Peter Clines that I haven't loved. This is just another example of the rides he takes us on. Strong female characters are just the icing on the cake for this. Put this on your to-listen list!

my least favorite in this collection
I struggled to finish this story. I absolutely loved 14 and the Fold. Paradox Bound started fading for me, and this edition to the series was just a flop. There was no intrigue, desire to help solve the mystery. The two main problems the good guys face seem disjointed and forced and the ending was abrupt. But as always Ray Porter was amazing. A great reader.

why make it part of the threshold series...
This book was good, not great. not sure why he made it a part of the threshold series. Because of the monster...idk. ending was a big let down. Mr. Cline has been watching too many twilight zone reruns.

ZOMBIES!!! (on the moon)
Definitely worth the prices of admission (1 credit) for this wonderful horror style B-Flick from the 80's.
Remote camp on the moon? Check.
Men and women staying together? Check.
Greedy guy who makes the situation worse? Check.
Millionaire's son? Check.
All of this is amazing and deserves our attention, so let's just add the icing ot this delicious cake: They got Ray Porter to narrate it. This early in 2019 and I have one of my favorite books for the year. Thanks Peter and I can't wait for another addition to the Threshold series!

IMHO
For the record I lobe Peter clines books. I love ray porter as a narrator. the voices, the accent the charm and sass he can create for characters. Love it!
I am about 3/4 of the way through the book. The first half of the book felt like the hero’s just brain storming of how to fix the bad situation they find themselves in. Normally it is fun to be an outside audience while this happens as we learn and piece together a solution for ourselves but there is so much knocking down of each other’s ( the characters) opinions it starts to be not fun as a spectator. I found myself increasingly annoyed as the story progressed.
This story has been done before, the only thing that changed was the setting in where it takes place. I was hoping for an interesting twist on an old tale, again I am not done with the book. I am hoping peter can pull off an awesome ending to make up for the somewhat redundant story line.
There are slot of fight scenes that felt clumsy to me. I had a hard time following the scenes transition. Maybe it is just the setting that I am not familiar with. It is space after all and I do not want to knock peter cloves ability to paint a picture in my head. He did a hella good job on the first two threshold books!! I was able to follow Andy wiier story in artimis , so idk.. I feel bad having negative things to say about this.
Anyway just wanted to write these thoughts down while they were still fresh in my head. I know I misspelled a ton of thing and grammatical stuff. Give me a pass I’m writing this on my lunch break

Unfortunately disappointing
(Minor Spoilers) I love Peter Clines' work so far, the past two Threshold books are some of my favorite book-based memories. However after the events of The Fold I was eagerly anticipating the story of Mike, Nate, Veek and Jamie and how they dealt with this daunting problem. Needless to say I was disappointed immediately at the start when hearing the date the story would take place in.
But I put my disappointment aside and gave the book a chance because Peter Clines has always delivered excellence. However this story felt phoned in, the plot could be seen coming by the five minute mark. The link to the Threshold series was essentially a long cameo with no real ties to the overarching plot of the universe. Most characters aside from the main two protagonists seemed one dimensional and most others seemed so blatantly ignorant and hard headed that it was unbelievable.
Maybe by itself, if I had zero expectations and desires going into it I would have enjoyed it, but alas I had high hopes and was thoroughly dissapointed. But I haven't lost faith in Peter Clines, because I'd still give my left leg to read more about the characters I fell in love with during 14 and The Fold.

There is a big suprise here
I listened to this book with ever-increasing interest.
Peter Clines supplies the foundation by which Ray Porter portrays the characters in a no-nonsense realism that will keep you hooked till the end. of the book.
Thanks Audible !
