Great story! Loved the character growth

A really good story! Loved how we were able to see more dimensions and character growth of both Charles and Anna.

Quick moving. Entertaining to the ends even had Patricia love of horses added in for more fun

Great story!

I love the writing and imagination that goes into these stories. Is realistic fantasy a thing? I get so immersed into the world of these character that when I’m done it takes me a time to figure out why shifters and Fae and other magical creatures are not in my world!

This series of books is outstanding. The characters are almost real. The narration was excellent as well.

One of my Mercyverse favorites

Good re-recording. Only quibble is that the ‘voices’ of Max, Mackie, and Micheal aren’t as distinct as Mr. Graham’s first effort.

Mystery & romance

Characters I care about, twists and turns in a paranormal mystery, with a sprinkling of romance. The sex is not graphic because the story is not about sex, the characters just happen to have sex. I like that. You'll get more out of the story after reading prior volumes, but you don't have to.

I want more!

Beautiful descriptions of horses. Excellent action sequences and emotion provoking characters. Now I miss characters as if I knew them. I only wish the book were longer.

Not a good narrator.

I forget the narrators name, but he made Charles sound like a 50+ year old chain smoker as well as the rest of the male werewolves. However he made Anna sound way to high pitched to the point where it was annoying. The previous guy was much better at making Charles sound like an actual person who would've lived 200 years ago as a native American. The narration made this a slog to listen through and I've listened to over 100 books at this point.

I LOVED the OLD Audio - THIS NEW version is HORRID

So I've listened to all of the alpha and omega series and all of the Mercy Thompson series more times than I can count. It's what I put on when I'm sick or doing housework, like a comfort food. BUT they just deleted the old Dead Heat audiobook I had paid for and made me rebuy it if I wanted to listen. As far as I can tell the old is now gone. This is the 2nd in Alpha and Omega they've done this with. The other one I had to repurchase a some slight audio changes, minor enough that someone who hadn't heard it 100 times wouldn't notice. On this one though the new audio is absolutely terrible!!! THe way things are said are completely different and change the previous meaning(like sarcastic vs soppy) and a lot of the characters are now overexaggerated or extremely whiny(like especially the kids are so bad I couldn't keep listening). Nuances are gone. It sounds like was recorded by the narrator with all the enthusiasm and effort of a kid being told the teacher lost their homework and they need to turn in an approximation of the original. Meaning they half *swear* ed it and it shows. I've now paid audible for this book TWICE and don't have a copy I can listen to and I trying to get it from the library. If I can find another site with the original audio version I'm going there and they probably won't steal it from my library this time
