About this listen

Taziem is a magnificent dragon: sexy, powerful, intelligent. Like other dragons, she hoards diamonds, but unlike other dragons, she covets knowledge as well. So when the local villagers offer her one of their younglings as a sacrifice, she decides to take it home with her and study it so she might learn all there is to know about humans. If the youngling satisfies her curiosity, she’ll set it free eventually. If it disappoints, she’ll feed it to her soon-to-be-born dragonets.

As it so happens, the youngling is fearless, clever, and dragon-smart. She quickly exceeds Taziem’s wildest expectations and winds up bonding with the newborns. Lathwi, The Soft One, they call her, and accept her as a tanglemate. As they live and grow and play together, Lathwi forgets that she was ever human. After a time though, Taqziem must banish Lathwi from her territory for her own safety.

Forced into the human world again, Lathwi begins a journey of re-discovery, stumbling onto a plot to revive dragonkind’s ancient nemesis. She withstands sorcerous attacks and an onslaught of demons, but without her mother’s help, she knows she cannot defeat the evil that threatens to consume the world.

The question is, can she return to Taziem’s mountain in time to prevent an apocalypse?

Fun story, poor reading

I liked the story but the narrator was quite bad. lots of swallowing and oddly timed pauses. Then at certain places she just kept reading through scene changes without any pause. It was quite distracting to the story...

Shockingly decent!

I am not a fan of books with abundantly distorted human sexuality. This book had the beginnings of true romance but was definitely not about romance. If you're a fan of pure adventure, that's here for sure. If you're one of those cheap sex fans, you won't find anything satisfying here.

It took getting use to the narrator' s voice and the plot, but once I did it was a great read.

It's Ok

The complaints about the audio quality are legitimate. The narrator doesn't read at a steady pace and there is a bit of reverb. It sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom.

The source material has it's own problems, which is exasperated by how the book is narrated. The subjects of the story and narrators focus can change rapidly without a new chapter being announced. This means the listener may not know immediately that the narrators focus has changed and will get the wrong idea about the direction of the narration.

The story is pretty good. I just wish the book had a better editor and sound director. That said none of these problems were bad enough to make me quit the book. I finished it and will look for a sequel. If the next book has the same problems I won't finish it most likely.

Read this book, not a good listen.

The book was not bad at all. I liked the story and the setting. The characters were good enough to enjoy but the audible version was bad. I was not impressed by the narrator. Her mic set up was terrible. Her audible gasps for air while reading and slow pace in the beginning caused me to have to stop listening a few times before i got through it. Then the next chapter her voice was clearer but you could still hear the breathing as well as a hollow tube echo. I actually stopped listening and picked another couple books to listen to before i could go back to it.

I wish i would have bought the book cause this was a waste of credit in audible. Thankfully i had some extra credits i hadn’t used yet so the waste wasn’t upsetting.

Lies and falsehoods

Do you want a story about a girl being raised by dragons, like what the cover boasts? Then look elsewhere. That is basically the prologue. I dont know what else the author has written but I hope they improve. This book was... lacking. A bit too much telling with less showing. The focus shifts between characters without warning leaving me confused until dialog clears up who is now talking. And the audio is the worst I've ever heard. Amature podcasts are better. The volume fluctuates, its edited with no care for proper pauses or inhales. Many parts of the recording feature background noise. I even noticed at least one misspoken line that wasn't edited oyt.
