Auf einem traditionellen Weihnachtsfest in ihrer magischen Heimat Talbrem begegnet die sechzehnjährige Kira einem alten Mann namens Claus, der seine wertvolle Brosche verloren hat. Aus Mitleid beschließt sie, sich auf die Suche nach ihr zu machen – ein Entschluss, den auch der arrogante Gesandtensohn Kjell getroffen hat, den sie noch nie ausstehen konnte. Nun gut, da muss Kira jetzt durch, denn sie möchte Claus helfen. Auf der Suche aber entdecken Kira, Kjell und ihre Freunde, die sich ihnen anschließen, einen geheimen Weihnachtsmarkt. Dort erfahren sie, dass sie die Brosche nur erhalten, wenn sie an einem Wettbewerb teilnehmen und diesen auch gewinnen.
