About this listen

"You just have to buckle up for this journey, because that is what it is. Forget sleep, work, and other such trivial things and just…enjoy!" (Eyes On Books)

It has been over a year since Kaori took the throne, and he and Hunter are at last ready to become married under Kazurian law. However, a brutal attack against Hunter just days before the wedding suggests that not all of Kazure is in favor of the alliance.

Kaori goes on a desperate quest to save Hunter's life even as a new enemy arises, slaughtering the priests and priestesses inside the Summer Temple for unknown reasons. Finding a solution to these two mysteries will decide whether or not Hunter manages to survive, and if Kaori will be able to continue as the High Lord of Kazure at all.

Narrator Dan Calley smoothly delivered the Sacred Guardian #4, most probably the final installment of this series. His flawless narration intensified the drama and tension of the story that felt like it will never end. From the first chapter right through to the end, the quest to defeat an unknown foe will keep listeners guessing. Lovers of magic and spells, secrets, and hidden enemies popping out of the woodwork will love this audiobook. I was unable to predict the plot. An excellent example of enjoying the road trip more than arriving at the destination.

The author writes extremely well-developed scenes. Listeners who like this writing style will love listening to the extensive character descriptions, their thoughts, their emotions, and the world they live in. It’s being described to the maximum. For me, this is what builds the tension. It felt like watching a Jaws movie, that dud–duh–duh–duh–duh music playing on a loop.

It was a rich imaginative experience.

I recommend this audiobook.
