The narration was excellent. The attention to detail with locations in Denver brought back fond memories.
The story line has a great lead in for future stories. I'm looking forward to listening to the next installment of this series.

YA novel grown up

I liked this book a lot. It had the feel of a Young Adult novel, but with more mature language and themes, exactly what I was looking for. The representation was great, in my opinion. It was wonderful having a main character that is not straight and with a minority race love interest where their cultural differences wasn't a plot conflict. I really enjoyed how the descriptions of magic seemed based on some real world magic practicing religions and the myths involved. Seems like the author did their research and gave the story some real life to it!

Different and great

I’m expanding my listening genres and this was awesome! Out there and fun and also serious family drama. Loved the main character. Enjoyed the male gay romance even as a straight woman. Sweet and tender. Will buy the sequel.

A hidden gem

I'm so happy that due to mh love of Seanan Micgure's Incryptid series this was recommended to me. I look forward to the next one!

I enjoyed the Adam Binder Universe and loved the characters Slayton created. Fans of supernatural mysteries will enjoy this.

Just Read it

I picked this on a whim, catchy title.
so sooo glad I did. this book blew me away.
I read everything, historical, sci-fi, adventure, horror, non-fiction. And I rarely give 5 stars. But imma give this 5+

5 stars shout it from the rooftops, actively share this title, leaves me looking at the world in a new way and thoroughly entertained.

Amazing down to earth, relatable protagonist named Adam. you know the author is good if a Mom from the Midwest can completely relate to a magic seer, gay redneck from Oklahoma.

Great premise, character development, action, passion, surviving family dysfunction, the realness of making yourself vulnerable.

The best thing about Adam is his ability to do what his instincts scream is right; even if it breaks social norms, even if it is hard as həll, even if it's going to hurt. There is a broken kinda purity I relate to in Adam.

the pacing is great. I seriously couldn't put it down. elves, mechanics, possession, family life, magic Cutlass, death and life.

Instant favorite!

This is for books one and two, I loved every about this. This series is my new favorite urban fantasy. The magic system, the characters, it’s all great! And I love the different family dynamics and how they contrast and sometimes clash with each other. And this book has some of the best character development I’ve read in a long long time. It doesn’t feel rushed despite it being a “shorter” book. (In my mind anything under 10 hours is a short book)

great storytelling

loved the story and the twist. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. it is fast paced, imaginative, and an all around good read. the characters were memorable.

Original idea

I really enjoyed this book, unlike any witch/warlock story I’ve read! Good character development too- left me ready for the next book in the series.
