About this listen

Thorn Stellers and his daughter are a problem, and not just for the Nyctus. With their power taking shape in directions like no one has ever seen, the Orbital Navy is faced with an unwelcome reality.

The Starcasters are beyond control.

Kira and Damien are assigned diplomatic roles in the growing sphere of galactic relations, leading them to a stunning discovery - humans are not alone in their fight against the Nyctus. Worlds are being destroyed by an unseen foe, with no defense against their attacks. Reaching out to new allies, the Orbital Navy finds a vast network of trading partners who lend technology that makes the navy into a fierce new weapon, but with this change comes a critical question.

Can the Nyctus be allowed to live?

The question falls to Thorn - and Morgan, who is aging like no other child, mature beyond her years and harboring power that can split the stars. She alone knows the Nyctus and their factions, and their survival might depend on a girl they swore to kill. She might not get the chance to decide, unless the Orbital Navy can find a way to leap ahead of their newest threat, the Bilau.

But Morgan might have the key, found in records on Nebo, under the watchful eye of her guards. A technology that can send human fleets into enemy space at speeds like never before, her discovery will change everything - even the battlefield.

With Thorn, Kira, and Bertilak, the fleet will gamble everything to win, and they’ll do it against an enemy with one sworn mission - to end humanity, and the Starcasters, and the thing they fear the most in all the known worlds: magic.

Love this series

I’m a huge JN Chaney & Terry Maggert fan and I think this is one of the best series I have read in a long time. Let’s not forget Tom Taylorsons narration which lifts this series even higher. I’m just sad its over but Chaneyverse is vast with countless great series.

Great blend of sci-fi and magic!

This series is by far one of my favorite sci-fi stories! Tom Taylorson nailed it and will add him to my listen of favorite narrators. The story was wrapped up in a nice bow, but could have flushed out the ending a little more. Seems like the new alien species could have been explored further, but that is fairly minor. I love the father, mother, daughter dynamic and definitely reminds me of renegade star in that case. Wish we could get more… but I’ll have to settle.

Cry for continuation

When is enough ever enough? Curious to see if the authors are able to expand the story line in a new direction or if they are able to hold us in the existing storie's rapture. The auditor's talent for representing multiple personalities is unrivaled. No small feat considering the multitude of characters. I'm in the early stages of diabetic vision loss. So you can imagine my joy knowing I will be able to stay connected with the wonderful world of literary audible story telling.

TOM TAYLORSON!!!

He's like the Berry White of narrators. I could seriously listen to him read anything. y'all should listen to Reality Bleed. it's graphic and violent but it's also an amazing story read by one of my NEW Favorite narrators Tom Taylorson

Great series up to this book which is quite bad

The series this far has been among the better series I have listened to. The story arch, the characters and the various events has been very satisfying and entertaining. Here in this book something weird happens... from having among the best and most vividly explanations to something that is rushed, cramped and quite sad to listen to.

I have had the first chapter of book three as an example to friends to how someone skilled paints a scene with words, absolutely amazing. And here I find things thrown in, fillers that has no purpose, stilted and unrealistic dialouges that not even Tom can make sound natural and fluent.

I am very disapointed, especially with this installation.

The story here do have some ups and all considered, all the other books together... it´s ok and worth a listen, but not worth the credit. The first book was free/included so... ok.

They had to pinch the woke incense.

I knew it was coming, but I was constantly surprised with how long it went. Into the final book before one of then, either one of the authors, Amazon, or some corporate head.

But finally, they found a way to shoehorn the pinch of incense to the rainbow god. It isn't integral to the plot, it is in a small, throwaway scene, it is completely superfluous to the story, which makes it stand out more glaringly as a compulsory nod to the woke overlords.

And my search for scifi that doesn't need to shoehorn pr0n or rainbow or bare anti-christianity will go on. Some day I will find something, but it is not this day.

Predictable formula

Meh.. I tried it out and gave it a chance, but the formula sci-fi/ fantasy blend was too predictable. Not enough story and character development.
