Action packed start of a great series!

It often takes me several days to finish an audiobook. This is the first time I finished one in two days. It’s rare that you don’t want to stop listening to a story, but this was an absolutely great read/listen.
I’ve always been a fan of J.N Chaney, And was very excited to hear that he was starting a new series. This is everything you could hope for in a sci-fi story. A lot of action, great characters, and a story that’s just going to keep on getting better. I highly recommend checking it out.

This one has got it all!

Put together gangs, human warring factions, aliens and the fate of humankind, and then a little love interest and you have lots of action! I'm going to recommend this one to my husband!

Like the premise of this story. A little different and these two authors teaming up is a win win. Mark did an excellent job as voice actor. Thoroughly entertaining!

A new Chaney duo

Was really excited for this one and not disappointed. I enjoyed the story a lot and already preordered book 2!

good one

It's an enjoyable story, but at the same time, I found frustrating that the university professor was much more of a badass than the trained ranger with a lot of field experience and no im not trying to say she is less than the ranger but one is a civilian and the other a soldier and in the end i ended liking the college kid more than the soldier and honestly i don't know if i would be buying book 2

Almost turned if off at the end of chapter 8

Getting really tired of all these petite women(5'6" this time) being total hard cases and male main characters letting them walk all over them. They seem to be trying real hard to turn Dr. Evangeline Cortez into Indiana Jones. Hope she settles down for the rest of the story...

Another win for the Chaney-verse!

JN Chaney did not go wrong with adding Rick Partlow to his team. Excellent story, excellent cast of characters, and a very promising beginning to a new series! If these guys keep it up, this series will rank right up there with The Renegade Star series, Ruins of the Galaxy, The Messenger, The Reaper, The 5th Column, Wayward Galaxy and more!

Of course, an Audible Book review wouldn't be complete without a shout out to Mr. Mark Boyett who's voice acting was pretty well spot on!

Hints of Skippy.

A good, against all odds story with a decent second book setup. and invested enough to give the second book a listen. Just hoping the AI doesn't turn into an overbearing Skippy. There can be only one Skippy...

Great start to a new series

The authors spin a good tale of adventure and discovery while grounding it with modern technology and geopolitical realities. The characters are unique and their interactions are enjoyable and keep the story well paced. Likewise the narrator does a great job distinguishing each character and bringing the story to life. Definitely looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.
