About this listen

Evil returns to Pelenor. The court of shadows will reign. The revolution has begun.

Dimitri raised Saradon willingly; but now he realises that time, hate, and the darkest of magics have twisted a revolutionary into an evil that seeks dominion over all. Dimitri is bound to Saradon’s cause, no matter the abhorrent acts Saradon already commits.

The dwarven realm of Valtivar shall be the first to fall to the feral scourge of goblins, followed by the crumbling kingdom of Pelenor, unless Dimitri can somehow twist his orders to avert the death of both nations before it is too late.

Harper is thrust into the middle of the conflict when her dwarven companion Ragnar is taken by the goblin horde. But, the hands of fate play a melody she cannot begin to dream of. In the dwarven halls, she discovers her destiny, and her identity at the hands of a goddess-like prophetess. It could not be farther from what she imagines.

The truth will pit all against her, for Harper holds great darkness within her, but in her hands is the only chance for success - and it is nigh on impossible.

Now, Harper finds herself in a race to not only save her friend, but the future of Valtivar and Pelenor.

Will Harper and Dimitri be able to work together to defeat Saradon?

Return to the Chronicles of Pelenor to enjoy this fast-paced epic fantasy filled with intrigue and shades-of-grey characters who struggle to survive in an ever-changing game of mortal danger.

Great

What a great story. In the previous book we were introduced to a ragtag group of people who at first glance had nothing in common. But the bond soon became apparent and in this story it more evident. This story is as filled with action and suspense throughout the story as the first.

Nice Book 2

I like the way the back stories all came together in this book. not going to go further into that just so I don't get away any spoilers.

I found the narration better in this book as far as sound quality goes. maybe I've gotten used to it happens sometimes but much better job here.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Excellent Storytelling!

This epic fantasy has excellent storytelling and well created world building. Very well written with great realistic characters. A fast paced fantasy with good vs evil elements that shows the bond of friends. A very enjoyable story that was hard to put down. Contains amazing narration. I highly recommend this second book in the Chronicles of Pelenor Trilogy.

Good Story, Great Narration

This is a good continuation of book 1. It is highly recommended to start with book 1 and not skip to book 2. The story is much more enjoyable and it makes more sense.

Narration is what truly stands out as it brings this epic world of fantasy to life. Making a good story great.

Note at the time of this review audible did not have chapter titles for this book

This book was provided for free, however, this is my honest opinion and review of the book.

Better than the first book

Just like before the narrator did an excellent job.
The dwarven realm is attack by the goblins, Saradon shows how crewel he is and some of the main characters have their back story expanded in interesting ways.
I have high expectations for the next book.

I liked the first book, REALLY glad I got this one

I had a little bit of trouble with the flow of the first book, but this book was really easy to get immersed into. I'm thinking about flat out buying the next one instead of waiting for my monthly credits!

Meg Cowley has done it again!

Here we have yet another fantastic experience!

As I've come to expect from Jack Voraces, the narration is smooth and elegant, the voices are varied and consistent, the vocal inflections are superb and contextually accurate, and the tempo shifts are skillfully done.

One of the things I love about reading series is that after the first I don't have to worry about liking or connecting with the characters. If I'm reading book 2 or beyond then I've already done that.

And this one is no exception.

Although there are some new faces, only 2 or maybe 3 are major characters, so much of this one is dedicated to deepening our understanding of these characters and even leading to sympathizing with a character that I previously hated for being a complete douche.

In terms of plot, I really enjoyed the direction of this one. It goes off in a very different direction from the first book but keeps things grounded in the major goings on that are building up to being world shaking.

There are a few throwbacks to the Caladan trilogy that I found very interesting.

Now, the book is definitely YA, there's no escaping that. But it is blessedly low on the scale of things that I find annoying in so much YA (contrived Interpersonal conflicts and main characters that are walking contradictions in all the worst ways).

There are a couple scenes where I felt main characters were being a lot more obtuse/less observant than their character building thus far would suggest, and some of the dialogue was overly on the nose.

But all in all, I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to experience the next one!

The ending comes together in a pretty unexpected way. With where the story ends up, I have to admit that I was expecting an overly convenient and/or deus ex machina sort of ending and I'm really pleased that did not end up being the case.

If sword and sorcery, elves, conflicted villains, and morally gray heroes are your thing, this is one series you won't want to miss!

An amazing story with an equally amazing narration

The saga continues and it gets better with each book. Dimitri has succeeded in raising Sarandon, but as the saying goes "beware what you wish for". Things are not as Dimitri thought they would be and he starts having second thoughts for his actions. Harper, on the other hand, discovers that there's a reason she ended up in Pelenor, as a prophecy seals her fate.

This second installment is as action-paced and fast-paced as the first. Meg Cowley has created a wonderful world, with strong, unique and complex characters.

The audiobook is extraordinary! Jack Voraces has succeeded in bringing to life all the characters, as well as the vivid description of places and action scenes. I highly recommend both the book and the audiobook!!!
