About this listen

Lady Mélisande Compton, Countess of Wilmington in her own right, has never forgotten Lord Alessandro Orsini, the Italian rogue she met during her visit to Versailles. When the celebrated rake resurfaces in London, Mélisande seizes the opportunity and shamelessly proposes an affair for the Season with no strings attached. Five years ago, Alessandro met his perfect match in Mélisande. Though the fiercely independent lady has sworn off marriage, it doesn’t stop him from vowing to make her his wife. While seducing her body, Alessandro wages tender warfare on her heart’s defenses.

But a bitter rival also burns to possess Mélisande, and luck has provided the means to bend her to his will: A scandalous secret from her past that could ruin her. The price of his silence? Her hand in marriage. In Liana LeFey’s delectable debut, Mélisande must choose between the desires of her heart and everything else she holds dear.

Picked this book because of the narrator

When I saw this book was narrated by Justin Eyre, I decided to give it a try.
It is a very entertaining listen, good story and was overall worth the time. A bit different than you regular historical romance.

AN 'OK' STORY

Written well, believable characters, didn't really capture my imagination, hero wasn't really hero material, sex scenes too explicit, didn't involve my emotions. I love a book that makes me laugh and cry and feel things. Still, worth a listen.

Enjoyable Romp

A great story line with a different take on the historical romance. She is a very strong willed confident person. It starts with her 14 and encounter of the rake who ignited passion with a kiss. No one ever measured up to him in stirring her and she saved herself. She vowed to never marry unless she truly loved and got that feeling again. At 18 she is gets to hold her fathers title unmarried and enjoys the life of court on her own terms. She liked to stir things up from fashion, to dance and low and behold she had a mind and used it and loved to best the men at chess. Truly a strong woman in charge of her own life,or so she thought. Warning graphic sex scenes which I love..

Almost quit listening

The narrator was awful. Her breathy accents turned me right off and I would have returned the book but it was too late. I listened because I had paid for it. I will not again purchase an audio book read by Ms. Eyre.
The story was ok, but not really that interesting.

Just awesome..

Would you listen to Countess So Shameless again? Why?

Probably.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Melly. She was so fiesy, so brave, so loving, so everything.

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

Every single word she said.

Any additional comments?

One reviewer said the narrator was nasally and that couldn't be further from the truth! She was awesome. Perfect, whether she was doing a French, English or Italian accents. And, whew, when she did Alessandro's voice it made you want to "swoon."
But my favorite character was Melly! She was one of the best heroines ever.
David, Reggie and Charlotte were great secondary characters. Herrington? Well, he was a piece of s**t and got all that he deserved. And, finally, there's no such thing as too much discriptive/explicit sex. Go read a Christian book if you don't like sex in a book.. Just sayin'

Slow and again the most nasal narration

I didnt notice who the narrator was before buying this book. Once again, the whinny, nasal nature detracts from the story. It wasnt quite as bad as the other book i purchased with this narrator it is still annoying and I wont make the mistake again. The story was full of uneccassary dialog between the characters that caused it to be a tedious read.
