Comprehensive, Encouraging, and Practical
Whether you are considering intermittent fasting or are skeptical of it, you should listen to this terrific book. Author Naomi Lindsey–who lost 100 pounds through proper intermittent fasting–knows her stuff and shares a tremendous amount of useful information. The book succeeds on many levels. First, I appreciate that in early chapters, Lindsey explains in depth how and why intermittent fasting works. Here, she discusses various topics such as cell death, fat burning, hormonal imbalance, and so much more, all the while linking biological benefits to intermittent fasting. These chapters are convincing.
Second, I like that Lindsey explains the broad variety of fasting methods and how you might go about selecting which method is best for you (something that can change over time). Intermittent fasting, it turns out, is not one-size-fits-all. She also is adept at describing what is happening in your body during and after the fast. Along the same lines, Lindsey provides extensive advice on what food to eat, what combinations are most effective, and even what order to eat foods for maximum benefit. It would never have occurred to me that, for example, proteins should be eaten first.
Finally, Lindsey does a great job discussing mindset, such as maintaining motivation when you feel frustrated, not overdoing something just because it’s supposed to be good for you, and celebrating small wins. The writing and narration are supportive and encouraging.

Try this!
I'm not 90 days in - just about 45. Still, I feel so much better! Women over 50 are different from younger women in so many ways: we're wiser, we're often in menopause or about to be, and we're having a harder time managing our weight in ways we're comfortable with.
I've struggled to control my weight and maintain my energy for about 5 years now, and a friend recommended this book. I didn't expect much, but I gave it a try.
Wow! 6 weeks in I'm down 10 pounds and I definitely have more energy. This is a different style of intermittent fasting than any I've seen, and it works well for me. Naomi explains why this style works well for women my age, and has a positive outlook that keeps you interested in learning more.

I’m Inspired!
I’ve heard a lot of buzz about intermittant fasting and wanted to learn more.
I was skeptical but after listening to this packed full and knowledgeable guide, I’m sold!
The things I found most helpful were the myth busting section with studies and science to back it up, the challenge to figure out WHY I might do this lifestyle, and all the encouragement to keep going even if it’s not perfect in the beginning.
Great alternative ways of doing “exercize” that actually fits into my style, routine, and lifestyle is invaluable to me.
Learning about all the body systems and hormones and all the science that supports intermittant fasting was helpful. I’ll use this as my guide.
