About this listen

In an attempt to save the New World Republic, they have become the hunted.

Sergeant Major Shaw and the Deadmen command the only known weapon, the dreadnaught, capable of thwarting the impending collapse of the human race. And their enemies in the Principality know it.

The Republic’s farspace planets struggle against the spread of the biological weapon known as the Scourge. One by one they are falling prey to the devastating alien disease.

Taking advantage of the Scourge calamity, the Principality embark on a brutal conquest to rule all of humanity. The only hope of preventing the Principality’s subjugation of the free worlds rests in Shaw and the Deadmen delivering the dreadnaught safely into the Republic’s hands.

But when the Deadmen become trapped on a Scourge-infested planet, the mission becomes more difficult than they anticipated, especially with the arrival of Principality forces stronger and deadlier than they have ever faced.

Pacific Rim meets Starship Troopers in Conquest, the fourth book in the Deadmen’s War series.

Terrible narrator

Bring back RC Bray.
Also would someone tell the author that a Click is a Kilometer and then show him how far a kilometer is?
Otherwise great story

Tons of action

Unique quasi space opera. Characters good and story line reasonable. Narrator excellent but still prefer RC Bray

Really enjoying this series.

Just keeps getting better and better. Mark Boyett does these books better than Bray did. He just nails it.
On to the next book. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Cry Havoc!

Another excellent addition to the dead man's war series! I love how the characters and the story keeps evolving. I am a little sad that I am nearing the end of the series.

Most boring addition to the series

Minimum character development. Not much in the way of Prog/Scourge reveals. Pretty meh for the series. Not actually bad. Definitely not great or otherwise notable. The bad guys weren’t interesting or scary. It was overall mostly just forgettable action scenes. I hope Book 5 is way better than this.

Like the series overall

I like the story overall.

What is annoying is how weak the main characters are. The sentinels are crazy strong when the main characters deal with them but are worthless when anyone else is dealing with them. The main characters got the crap kicked out of them by sentinels in the first book but anytime the principality deals with them they are destroyed like child toys.

It is just annoying that the main characters are so weak. They are controlling alien killing machines but get their ass kicked every time they go up against the dolls. These ancient killing machines kicked the crap out of the main characters but when the main characters take control the killing machines are all of a sudden weak and almost useless. Same goes for the alien ship. The alien ship was able to take out a whole strike group without any effort but when our main characters get control of it the ship can barely survive. The writing is so annoying that everything the heroes touches somehow loses the amazing power it just had the previous chapter.

Great concept but horribly written.
