About this listen

Like most roguish bachelors, Jason Thompson, the Earl of Asthey never plans to marry. He stands by that proclamation until his grandfather’s will is read. If he doesn’t marry in six months he’ll forfeit his entire inheritance. That wouldn’t bother him much, but without funds the estates would fall into ruin. He has a hard decision to make, and one that he has no desire to face.

Lady Samantha Cain is on the edge of becoming a spinster. Her brother has blocked every eligible gentleman from courting her. She’d never admit it, but she was glad he did. Her heart has always belonged to one man. The problem is he has never seen her as a potential wife. When she hears about the issues with his inheritance she decides that its time for a tiny confession or two. She won’t admit she loves him, but he might be receptive to a marriage of convenience.

Asthey wants to turn Samantha down because he hates the idea of that sort of union with her. She’s the one woman that tempted him to dismiss his notion of marriage. Now she’s offering herself to him and he has to discern the best way to handle her delicious offer.

I loved it!

This is book 7 in the Bluestockings Defying Rogues Series, a Regency Romance. I love this series! Jason and Samantha's story is fast-paced, engaging, funny, and heartwarming. They are both amazing characters. Aiden Black did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Narration by Aiden Black is the Best🎉🎉🎉

I totally enjoy all of Aiden Black’s Narrations! He absolutely makes the stories come alive! Beautifully narrated!
The story itself is beautiful in that one never knows that true love may be lying right in front of them and when one finally discovers it.... it is such a beautiful realization 😊

Will Marriage Provide Both What They Need?

This is such a fun story! The book starts at a house party you will be familiar with if you've read a few of the previous books in this series. The heroine has had an unrequited love for the hero for years. Her older brother would never allow her to marry the hero if asked directly, and in fact, he has thwarted her every chance at romance over the years, so much so that she is now decidedly on the shelf. She spent many seasons out, but at this point, no suitor even approaches her because of her brother's known treatment of past ones.

She happens to overhear her brother and the hero discussing the hero's dilemma recently put on him by his deceased grandfather. He must marry within a specific time frame or give up all claim to the family wealth. It will be given to a disliked distant relation. The heroine soon realizes this could be her chance with the hero, and at a ball where he is supposedly looking for a female willing to marry quickly, she offers herself as his bride. He doesn't quite know how to take this, as he well knows his good friend, her brother, would not like this at all. Still, he's desperate enough to take the chance. Scotland seems their only option … and a hurried road trip that takes up most of the story ensues.

I won't go into further details about the twists and turns of the plot, but I found them incredibly enjoyable to listen to. Let's just say that they both have different ideas of what their future marriage should look like. They hit several obstacles along the road, including a jammed roadway because of a local festival and her brother nearly finding them well before the Scottish border. The hero wasn't always likable, but as he came to understand himself and her better, he became a better man. I like it when that happens in romance, so I will forgive his prior faults. Recommended.

Confessions of a Hellion!

This is a good addition to the "Bluestockings Defying Rogues" series. It is a stand alone read that is fairly short and quick. The story is about Jason, the Earl of Asthey, and Lady Samantha. Jason, a man who never plans to marry, finds him self needing a wife. Samantha, only wants one man, but knows he would never have her. Then she finds out about Jason's situation and offers a marriage of convenience. This is a cute and sweet story with some spice.

too protective villain

Lady Samantha Cain, fearful of becoming a spinster, had been enamored with Lord Ashley The latter never wanted to marry due to his past. He was forced to reconsider after his grandfather left stipulations on his will. Lady Samantha offered a solution to their problems.
The development of the Lord's feeling was explored in their travels. And then when you think they were their HEA, the villain surfaces. Though I new there will be a happy ending, I was intrigued on what was going to happen. After all that, I was surprised that someone almost gave up.This was an entertaining chase/read.

A cute story with fire

A man determined never to marry finding himself on the brink of bankruptcy if he doesn’t. A woman who has always loved him finally finding a way to make him hers as long as she can get through her over bearing brother. A recipe for an adventure of a lifetime. I loved this story and the true womanly fire that the main female character showed, she knew what she wanted and wasn’t going to let anyone stand in her way.

Convenience or Love?

Samantha loves Jason, has for years. Jason is her brother’s friend, therefore she is off limits to him. Gregory has a habit of discouraging all of her suitors. When Samantha learns Jason must marry, and quickly, she offers him a marriage of convenience. Reluctantly he agrees, and off they go to Gretna Green, with Gregory in hot pursuit. This is a fun story with likable engaging characters. Will Gregory be able to stop them in time? Will they ever reveal their feelings? An entertaining story and enjoyable narration by Aiden Black.
