Good reference book

I loved this book. But in some ways he uses surveys that make me feel like they fit his narrative points. Based on the fact that i agreed whole heartedly in my personal experience with divorce as a child and in my marriage, with the examples he gave.

Good info but way too many stories.

This book could be much much shorter and just as good by removing half the stories and keeping the 'info'.

Dr Phil

I have listened to many books on parenting through and after divorce that cite countless academic research articles to support their claims. This book cites Dr Phil’s website because the author is a contributor to the show. The book’s content is abrasive. I realize there are psychological ramifications for children of divorce, but law breaking, illegal drug activity, sexual assault, and joining a gang may not be so high on the potential outcome list as this author implies. The author who has himself been divorced while being the father of three children. This is the Jonathan Edwards take on scaring a parent into staying married, which may ultimately be the worst outcome for the children.
