About this listen

Criminologist Harmony Black is a witch with a loaded Glock. Her partner, Jessie Temple, is packing fierce lupine heat. Together, they're part of Vigilant Lock, an elite FBI black ops group dedicated to defeating criminals with supernatural connections. But when they uncover a demonic conspiracy in the highest ranks of the government, it appears that everything Harmony and her friends have worked for, fought for, and risked their lives for might be a lie.

Framed for a casino massacre, Harmony and Jessie are on the run - in the real world and in their own. From the seedy casinos of Atlantic City to the steamy bayous of Louisiana and the imposing facades of Washington, DC, there's not a soul on earth they can trust.

The only way they can clear their names is to take down the conspiracy from within and uncover the truth behind a secret that both the government and the powers of hell want to keep buried.

great as always Craig has killed it again!

this one took a bit to get into but once I was in I was all in. I love how this book ends I think that element that is obviously setting up for the next book is neat.

Fantastic Continuation

When I read the first Harmony Black book in the series I was a little hesitant because I generally do not like when a story branches off. However, Craig Schaefer has done an absolutely amazing job with the Harmony Black series. Cold Spectrum is no different and just adds more to an already great story. Although the series can stand on its own without having to read the Daniel Faust series, I highly recommend starting with Daniel Faust and switching back and forth between the series' in the order they were released. That insures you'll fully enjoy the author's world.

Great Crew

The heat turns up the pot is ready to blow like a pressure cooker unattended! The boil is ready to burst letting the infection squirt out! Many of the corrupt as well as the innocent die young to make things right. Unfortunately there’s more to come!

Another great Schaefer story

The Harmony Black books mirror the Daniel Faust series so well. Cold Spectrum was another addition and the audio performance was outstanding. I look forward to the next book. Between the two series Craig Schaefer has become the Jeffrey Deaver of the supernatural genre.

I’m a huge fan of Craig Schaefer and basically love all their books, but I want to praise the reader especially. I love her Fontaine and Jessie!

The more things change . . .

Book four brings the Cold Spectrum arc to a mostly satisfying close. Allies, foes and frenemies from the prior books come out to play. Machinations and conspiracies are revealed. The constant comebacks are exasperating. That’s partly to do with the Harmony Black world, where demons don’t die; they merely get vanquished and can be summoned another day, That’s also due to the white-hat nature of Harmony’s team, securing defeated foes at a black site instead of ending the threat permanently. It lends this a very superhero comic vibe, with the never ending ability to bring back villains and renew grudge matches. Thus, while the four-book arc closes, there’s plenty left for future books. This was a fun enough listen that I’m willing to keep going, even if part of me wants to move on from the demonic conspiracies to new villains and new plots.

best one so far

this series gets better with each book, but you really have to give it the chance, especially if you started with Daniel Faust. the characters integrate back and forth so you do get to learn some new things about some of the people in Daniel’s life. Caitlin is, and will remain, my favourite character throughout, and i really liked her part in this one, minimal as it was. i’ll be looking forward to what happens next with Vigilant Lock!
