About this listen

A decades-old body. A mystery that was never meant to be solved.

After taking part in two murder investigations, Kirby Jackson feels like his sleuthing days are over. His plate is full. He has his comic book and coffee shop to tend to, a stubborn dachshund to perk up, and a new cat who thinks she owns the place. Gambit, the dachshund, can’t get used to the idea of sharing anything - let alone an apartment - with Rogue, the feline wonder. The cat always slips away just when he thinks he’s got her cornered.

When a local teen goes missing during the annual Niilhaasi Pirate Festival, Kirby offers his and Gambit’s help.

What the two uncover shakes the small coastal community to its core...

Latte Love for this series!

I love this series! It’s full of little references and homages. The main character’s name is Kirby and his dog’s name is Gambit. There’s a cat named Rogue too! The series plays like a love letter to Murder She Wrote and Castle with a dash of Psych.

Stop what you’re doing and get into this series! They’re perfect for a cozy afternoon at home.

A little different than the rest

I like the flow of the character's stories through the series and the narrator was great.

coffee and crime paired perfectly

this is the third book in the series and I finished this within a day because it is so nicely written. again the crime isn't high stakes but it is built very well. the host of good characters and their distinct traits make it feel like you're getting to know your friends better. I'm looking forward to more books in this series. And props to all the references to comic book authors. I had a laugh at a character called Grant Gaiman!
