This book gives an accurate account that is based on real data, and an insider’s view of the market, the government and its cultural. I’m an American that’s lived in China the last 18 years and can vouch for the authenticity of the narrative Li is painting. It’s a must-read if your work relates to China.

Fascinating read

This book is by far the most interesting among the recent publications on the China subject. It gives an in-depth look at the inner workings of the Chinese society and governance with some unique insights that are in short supply in today’s discourses. It’s a must read for people who really wish to gain understanding beyond groupthink.

The spirit of this book is critically important.

I have lived and worked throughout China for nearly a decade and I’m greatly alarmed and embarrassed by the uncharitable attitude of my fellow Americans towards China. The rhetoric towards China that fills our society is nothing short of ignorant and arrogant.

This book is a refreshing and earnest appeal for reconciliation in the gracious manner which is so characteristic of these beautiful people. If you find the substance of the book difficult to wade through consider skipping to the last couple chapters and then attempting earlier chapters afterwards.

The spirit of this book is critically important in this present era of inappropriate contempt within American/Chinese dialogues which the West has seeded.

Our children and our children’s children will suffer the consequences of our aggressions if we fail to be receptive to initiatives such as this book.

Wonderful overview of China and its aspirations and view of the world

A deep dive into the Chinese government, how it works, governs and serves its people. It helped get rid of many biases and stereotypes.
