Mallory Viridian would rather not be an amateur detective, and fled to outer space to avoid it…but when one of the new human arrivals on a space shuttle is murdered, she’s back in the game.

Mallory Viridian would rather not be an amateur detective, thank you very much. But no matter what she does, people persist in dying around her—and only she seems to be able to solve the crime. After fleeing to an alien space station in hopes that the lack of humans would stop the murders, a serial killer had the nerve to follow her to Station Eternity. (Mallory deduced who the true culprit was that time, too.)

Now the law enforcement agent who hounded Mallory on Earth has come to Station Eternity, along with her teenage crush and his sister, Mallory’s best friend from high school. Mallory doesn’t believe in coincidences, and so she’s not at all surprised when someone in the latest shuttle from Earth is murdered. It’s the story of her life, after all.

Only this time she has more than a killer to deal with. Between her fugitive friends, a new threat arising from the Sundry hivemind, and the alarmingly peculiar behavior of the sentient space station they all call home, even Mallory’s deductive abilities are strained. If she can’t find out what’s going on (and fast), a disaster of intergalactic proportions may occur.…

Reseñas de la Crítica

“The wonderfully inventive, delightfully wacky, and cleverly complex Midsolar Murders sf-mystery series is off and running again, this time exploring more of Mallory's background while maintaining the delicious humor and intricate mystery prevalent in the first book.”—Booklist (starred review)

"The follow-up to Station Eternity is just as complex and engaging as its predecessor. Lafferty’s skill with dialogue and emotional arcs make the story equally character- and action-driven."—Library Journal (starred review)

"This whirlwind adventure is good fun."—Publishers Weekly

deep space fine

You will have a hard time keeping up if you do not start with book one. But the series is fantastic and I can not wait for more!! Great way to use a credit. The narrator also did an outstanding job which always helps keep a good book from being hard to listen to.

Make sure you start with the first book!

I love this book and seeing more of Mallory’s past.i enjoyed the subtle romance and the flirtations. I also really enjoyed how the people/aliens feel so real with all their infighting and drama and bad attitudes. Great book!

Tina is still my favorite!

As fun as the first book with some nice twists and character developments. Avoid spoilers if you can before starting this one.

A great sequel

I throughly enjoyed it both as a self contained mystery and the second book in a series. Tina is a hilarious character I look forward to seeing more of and Kelsey Navarro Foster's narration is spot on.

Awesome continuation of Station Eternity

Such a fun story

I really wanted to like this book. I didn’t love the first book, but the reviews were much better for this one and I felt like maybe the author just needed to get out some of the kinks.
First of all, let me just say that I love the premise, I think the idea of somebody finding themselves around murders all the time is exactly what many of the main characters in mysteries would actually be like in real life. Why are all these people dying around them? I love the wasp aliens. I think that is fascinating.
That said, I feel like the relational interactions were a little bit off. They felt more like caricatures with exaggerated actions than actual ways that people would interact. I know that many of the characters are aliens, but I also think there is an expectation that things would flow in a recognizable way to the reader. I will go so far as to say if you just single out to humans, I felt like the emotional and relational interactions were flat.
The mystery also didn’t really develop. It felt like an afterthought at the end. Overall, I think the biggest criticism I would have would be the flow of the story. Some of the things that happened just didn’t seem realistic. Some of the characters act so dumbfounded when they discovered very obvious aspects of the story. At one point one of the character said they felt so stupid for not seeing it earlier and I couldn’t have agreed more. I think the series has much promise, but there is a lot of tweaks, especially in character development that would need to take place for me to want to read the third book.

Just didn’t quite hit

The intense intrigue of the previous novel is replaced by a focus on romantic issues, and the novel gives us little in the way of depth for the Station's previously introduced characters. Regarding the narration - most lines are delivered with a kind of breezy sarcasm - that style is not my cup of tea.

May not be for you, even if you liked Mur's other works.
