About this listen

The world is not the same place it once was. America, once united, now known as The Divide is a savage land where the vicious and remorseful survive. Follow the story of Stuart and Malcolm. Two survivors of the wars that broke the country and sent life back several centuries.

Stuart has a past he would rather forget. He was placed in a position of leading a small group of survivors. Now, he struggles to keep the group together and safe, as well as work toward a future where they can live in harmony...well, sort of.

Malcolm is a young man who managed to hide out in a small community for as long as he could. Now, he ventures out in The Divide to find a safe haven. When he bumps into Stuart and his group, he finds a reason to stay.

Can they find a way to survive? With volatile groups, a faction with a score to settle, and wild beasts, will the group find a way to a safe place? Can they ever stop moving? How will the group handle being pushed to its limits? What will the group do to survive in The Divide?

Good Survival beginning of series!

I really enjoyed this post apocalyptic thriller. I especially enjoyed the characters Malcomb, (the main character) and Stuart. I found Malcomb's love interest to be a bit immature and off putting at times, but the characters were well thought out for the most part. There were quite a few mysterious that made eager to find out what happened, I didn't want to turn this audible off! The narrator was excellent and really added to the richness of the characters. I would recommend this book for anyone that is into survival or post apocalyptic reads! I am looking forward to the next in this series!

Happy post apoc

Cataclysm. .
First book I've read by Tommy Clark and am impressed. This is a very good post apoc book, interesting and plenty of action.
Some very strong characters who are faced with difficult choices in their struggle to survive.
An entertaining read/listen.
Narration is excellent., and is a good match for the book.

Decent Start

I enjoy Post-Apocalyptic books without zombies and feel this is a good start of the series for survival. I loved the characters especially Coach, Stuart and Malcolm as well as their group. Hated the Rising Tide group especially Tobias. Cannot wait for next book. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Entertaining Post Apocalyptic Survival Story

Cataclysm The Divide is a fairly entertaining start to a Post Apocalyptic survival series. This story seems to take place about 7 years after the 'cataclysm'(an EMP attack) that changed the world and there seem to be many different factions and groups that have popped up. Our story focuses on a group of characters, the main ones being Malcolm, Stuart, Coach, Taylor and the rest. Malcolm(a teenager) has been on his own for awhile when he comes across the group, he is taken in fairly quickly because of his mechanic's skills and becomes an integral member.

The Divide is a dangerous place and survival is not easy and the different groups do not make it any easier especially The Rising Tide which has some unknown connection to Stuart and Coach. The story is pretty entertaining and action packed but it is not the most realistic PA survival story I have ever read and the first book is a bit light on back story and what is really going on but it leaves a lot of ground for future books in the series. The characters are fairly likeable and have good chemistry.

The narration by Joshuan Saxon is pretty well done but he can rush through sentences a little bit and there sometime is not enough variation between character voices. Overall if you like these types of stories I would give it a listen.

Nothing would divide them!

It’s been eight years since the collapse of the United States. Cars no longer took to the roads, trains no longer rode the rails, planes remain grounded. It all started with a war over the remaining oil reserves. The war was not kind to anyone, but America took it the hardest. It ended in a second civil war. Half of the country was walled off; the West fell to the Russians. Columbia was a walled city of the wealthy and the new capital of what was left of the United States; now referred to as the Divided States, i.e., The Divide. Stuart Knowles, Coach, and Taylor scavenged for supplies in small communities far out from their homestead, referring to themselves as Nomads. The trio comes upon Malcolm, an eighteen-year-old mechanic looking for safety and companionship. Thus begins the main plotline of Malcolm’s tale of survival. Stuart has a history as well that composes a second plotline. The characters are well-developed, the tale of comradery among survivors told with honesty and emotion. The tale is a good solemn look at a post-apocalyptic future and a compelling start to a new series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Slow burn with decent payoff

While in total I enjoyed the story, it felt like a slow build up to the action, with lots of extra 'filler' thrown in simply to make the book longer that didn't necessarily need to be there. That said the pay-off with the core story was decent and made the time investment worthwhile.

I received a copy of this book at my request in exchange for a fair review.

Not very realistic

This is not very realistic dystopian fiction. It's likely to appeal more to fans of the Hunger Games. There's lots of violent action, a touch of romance, but little real story.

The characters are well drawn, but Joshua Saxon's performance of these characters could have been better. His character voices are not distinctive enough and it's often very difficult to tell who is speaking during dialog. Otherwise, his narration is good.

Although the story is set up for future books in the series, it does not end in a cliffhanger. I commend the author for that.
