too much preaching

I have so enjoyed Rita Mae's and Sneaky Pie's Mrs. Murphy's mysteries and the animals speaking to each other. This one was a bit disappointing as there was too much preaching about a) the environment and b) politics and etc. It was not aweful just not as fun as the previous ones. I hope I like her next one better....

Not up to previous

I used to enjoy this series by Rita Mae Brown. Never great mysteries, it's true, but enjoyable, light reading with mostly sympathetic characters and decent plots. The animal characters could strain one's ability to suspend reality, but they mostly "fit," providing amusing alternate perspectives to the tale. My complaint with this entry doesn't concern any of the characters, animal or human. Halfway through, there's precious little plot, no suspense, no character development, and all too much socio-economic/political/religious commentary. I read most mysteries for entertainment. I have no interest in Ms Brown's pronouncements on the evils of the 21st century. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much else to this entry.

Terrible one of series

It is amazing that the publisher allowed this book to be published. Who cares abpout Ms Brown's diatribe on so many issues -so much so the story is lost. There is very little mystery, animal and main characters allowed to be in this=I would not even give it one star=Boring also the narrator talked like she was bored too-what a mess-Where was Sneaky Pie? Did she have any input-if she did which I doubt she had too much catnip..I want my money back on this one

I used to love Rita Mae Brown

What disappointed you about Cat of the Century?

There was too much preaching about taxes and the role of government in day to day life. The cat books are light hearted mysteries, but this one was full of political spouting that I am uninterested in when reading a supposedly entertaining novel.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The mysteries are always interesting. It is the surrounding

Which character – as performed by Kate Forbes – was your favorite?

Aunt Tally

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyance because of the misplaced political grand standing.

Any additional comments?

It is very difficult for me to criticize the author of such groundbreaking novels like Rubyfruit Jungle. But this book went a bit too fat into the politically coocoo.
