About this listen

Following the explosive events of Star Trek: Nemesis, the Romulan Star Empire is in disarray, and Ambassador Spock attempts to render aid by launching a last-ditch effort to reunify the Romulans with their distant forebearers, the Vulcans. But when Spock is publicly assassinated at a Romulan peace rally, Starfleet and the Federation are unable to search for the criminals responsible without triggering an intergalactic war.

Thus, it falls to James T. Kirk, now retired, to investigate his beloved friend's murder. Given clandestine assistance by Captain Will Riker of the Starship Titan, and accompanied by his good friend Jean-Luc Picard, Kirk travels to Romulus as a civilian, along with his five-year-old child, Joseph, the cantankerous Doctor McCoy, retired Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott, as well as several members of Picard's crew, still waiting to return to duty on the badly damaged U.S.S. Enterprise NCC1701-E. But on Romulus' sister world, Remus, Kirk unexpectedly encounters an alluring enemy from his past as Picard and he discover Spock's apparent murder hides an even deeper mystery, reaching beyond the limits of the galaxy.

Trapped on a deadly, alien world on the eve of a Romulan civil war that could plunge the galaxy into a civilization-ending conflict, Kirk's investigation brings him to the heart of a staggering conspiracy. As he discovers the true threat facing the Romulans, he realizes that he must sacrifice the freedom of his son, whose very blood holds the secret to his destiny. Captain's Blood brings together both generations in a battle for the existence of all life in this galaxy, and beyond.

Shatner Style

Shatner reads multiple characters in a unique story storyline but seemingly familiar from earlier TV episode.

Another hit by Bill Shatner

Would you consider the audio edition of Captain's Blood to be better than the print version?

The audio version is great. You can feel the passion and imagination explode onto the virtual movie screen in your mind by listening to Mr. Shatner's reading of this story. I recommend this to any fan of William Shatner, or of Star Trek.

A short entry in the Shatnerverse

I probably should have read,(listened) to this part of the series some 20+ years ago. But finally got around to listening and finishing it now. Personally,I don't think it's a great sequel to previous books in the series. But it's not terrible either for a non cannon story.

I always enjoy hearing William Shatner’s voice and the story line was easy to hear… it made sense.

C-

Ive loved all Shatners trek books and I love the action and adventures he takes Kirk on, teaming up with TNG characters alot. With that being said this book is the most boring of all his Trek narratives. Not saying its bad but can't hold a candle to his mirror universe trilogy I loved. Trek fans will enjoy reguardless as I did but dont expect a heart racing story like some of his others.

Good to hear Kirk again.

Having the books in hardback and voice, I love hearing Kirk again but details are important and the hardbacks have more information. My imagination fills in the voices of all Spock, Kirk, Picard and the rest of the crew of both time lines. With only one book left, I wish I had the talant and discipline to carry on the timelines of Kirk and Picard. Maybe Shatner can rethink his choice to not continue the storyline. I would love to see it go on.

Shatner Rocks

Love him or hate him or anywhere in between, you have to admit that his stories are not shallow. I have the entire series & as a whole the storyline flows smoothly.
