Acerca de esta escucha

On August 6, 2011 - three months after members of Navy SEAL Team Six killed Osama Bin Laden - Taliban forces took down a United States helicopter, call sign Extortion 17. The attack killed the Air National Guard crew, seven unidentified members of the Afghan military, and 17 members of Navy SEAL Team Six - warrior brothers from the same team that had killed Osama Bin Laden just 90 days prior. Were the seven Afghan soldiers aboard that helicopter really undercover Taliban who either maneuvered the chopper within easy range of being shot down or sabotaged it from within? Were the SEALs sacrificed on the altar of political correctness and deliberately flown into a known Taliban hot zone?

Don Brown, a former US Navy JAG officer stationed at the Pentagon and a former special assistant United States attorney, re-creates the wartime action, tells the life stories of the elite warriors our nation lost on that day and tears apart the official military explanation of the incident contained in the infamous Colt Report, which reveals either gross incompetence or a massive cover-up.

Tons of repetition but a story that needs to be told and fully investigated….for the families!

Incredible story

The information was great and definitely needs investigated. But the repetition of national guardsman air crew and the unknown afghani’s. Probably could hit some more on known investigations and what hasn’t been. I couldn’t make it past the 12th chapter, I believe 😬

Definitely needs to have independent investigation

Made me angry at the cover-up. Damning indictment of military incompetence at the highest levels.

Vital information, great call to action

If you listen to the book, you’ll understand the title. Wonderful and compelling information. The narrator voice on the other hand was very radio like.

Question, never asked

As if we needed another reason to despise the Obama Administration and the current one. Mattis included. Sadly, this story along with the Benghazi tragedy are indicative of Washington’s inability to take responsibility for anything at all.

The book did raise questions about why the crash occurred and what happened after. If there was a coverup, it wouldn’t be the Government’s first or its last. The narrator’s tone was angry, almost off putting, if the subject wasn’t so important. I’ve read Ed Darak’s book…The Final Mission of Extortion 17…(and may again) and was glad audible made this book available as part of membership.

Thought provoking

Another awesome book on Seals. I pray the truth of how and why they all died will finally come to fruition now that this book was released. What to do now AMERICA?????? Somebody, somewhere. HAS TO KNOW SOMETHING. We are not ignorant. God bless the families of those Troops.

WTF REALLY HAPPENED?!?!

Having spent over 15 years of service to this country. I think I know what it's capable of. At least I thought I did. From Gen. Mattis on down to the lowest ranking person on the investigation board, they are all so clouded in their capabilities as leaders. And from the highest ranking civilian on down that chain there is horrible corruption. So many questions and not so many answers. Lies, cover ups, misleading a and half truths are strewn all through this story. I hope someone, somewhere can finally tell the truth to this tragedy. Just like the JFK assassination.

Disgusting leadership

This is a great story about coverup in our military high rankers. They think they are 10 Feet and Bullet Proof. Not the case in this book…

Great book, I enjoyed every minute..

Good book, well researched and written. As a 3 tour Iraq Vet I’m thankful for his due diligence in reporting inconsistencies with the reports, statements and aftermath concerning Extortion 17. However, the tone of the narrator and the incessant inference of conspiracy theory in seemingly every sentence overrides the presentation of the facts. Having read “The Last Flight of Extortion 17” it presents the story in a very different first person, factual narrative with numerous interviews, eyewitness accounts and aftermath also, without screaming at the reader throughout.
This book is still worth a read and contemplation of the incredible sacrifice of the brave warriors aboard Extortion 17 that fateful night.
