Acerca de esta escucha

The sinister puzzle of an FBI linguist’s past is far from finished in a gripping novel of twisted family ties, from USA Today bestselling author Brianna Labuskes.

FBI forensic linguist Raisa Susanto thinks she’s through with the past now that her psychopathic serial killer sister, Isabel, is locked away forever. Then Raisa receives a letter from Isabel. It’s just a single message: By the time you read this, I’ll be dead.

Soon after, Isabel is discovered dead in her cell, forcing Raisa back into her depraved orbit—one that includes a band of true-crime worshippers obsessed with Isabel, her killing spree, and those who survived it.

When a new victim is killed in the same manner that made Isabel notorious, Raisa and FBI forensic psychologist Callum Kilkenny aren’t just tasked with finding out who killed Isabel and why. They’re hunting for a protégé following in Isabel’s footsteps. Raisa must uncover the truth—whether or not she’s ready for it—before someone else dies.

I liked this 3rd installment of the series, but not as much as the first two. I had a bit of trouble following some of the characters and how some of them fit the story. It sort of just felt like more of the same from the other books. I would still recommend reading (or listening).

I loved this thought processes behind this trilogy. Great ending. What makes a Psychopath? What if they were raised. not knowing their family, family history.

Most recent in this series. Narrator is excellent. Only series I’ve read about an FBI Forensic Lawyer Linguist.

Great narrator

Like the previous two books in this series, and most books by this author, the storyline was never dull and always moved forward. character development was good with characters being well rounded. With this being another personal case, on two fronts, it was easy to see how Raisa wasn't able to think and process things clearly. This book did bring Raisa into territory where she was vulnerable at times. In the end when it all came together, Raisa has been changed, but with some new understanding and acceptance.

Until the End

If you gave me a plot summary, I would probably say “ oh that’s clever”, but unfortunately the execution was awful. The first 20 pages or so are just pure summary and exposition, so it is damned from the jump. People really need to find ways to write novels that are stand-alones but also exist in a series. By the time it got to the actual plot, I was so thoroughly annoyed with how terrible the opening was, that it was really difficult to keep going. Also, if the protagonist is a linguist, there really ought to be zero usage errors and such throughout the text.

I wanted to like it
