About this listen

Cows are better than people–a fact I've sworn by until the irresistibly upbeat Molly comes barreling into my life, running my farm stand and bringing the summer heat with her.

She's also working for Fork Lick’s most debt-ridden business: my family's farm. I try to stay out of that manure pile. Except the crush I have on her makes me think about doing things like smiling all day and patching up my relationship with my brother.

And then I learn she has a thing for me in flannel and we’re on fire between the sheets. Just when I think Molly might be having feelings for me too, old pain comes bleating back in–this was all a set up and I’ve been played.

Butter You Up continues the Farm 2 Forking crop of laugh out loud romantic comedies set on Bedd Fellows Farm.

Get ready to grab life by the teats with an a-derp-able farm dog and baby goats galore with this hilarious and heartwarming romance by Liz Alden.

Love It!

Alex and Molly

This is the part of a series where a couple authors take one of the Bedd siblings and write their story. This is Alex's story the second eldest. Can be read as a standalone. He is a grumpy dairy farmer who is holding a grudge, but when the patriarch of the family dies the family finds the family farm that he walked away from is in jeopardy and he is recruited to help save it. Molly reconstructs a van and is traveling around she connects with the matriarch and finds that she can park her van in one of the barns in exchange for help on the farm while she gets someone to do repairs. These two meet while Molly is working on the Bedd farm and there is an attraction but Alex tries to ignore it but then Molly ends up working some days at his farm. This was a good story I enjoyed it truths are discovered as grudges where held from both brothers and they realize they both misunderstood a situation. Look forward to the other siblings stories.

I really liked listening to this more than I did reading it. The narrators did a good job with giving Alex and Molly a voice. An entertaining and enjoyable story. I find it relaxing listening to this.

Funny and fantastic!

Such a fun rom com…loved this book and it’s a great addition to the series. Fill with amazing characters, banter, small town shenanigans and love. Alex is a grumpy, serious businessman and has some family baggage that he needs to work through. Molly is such a free spirit and is a go with the flow kind of gal. She’s full of sunshine and positivity regardless of what may be going on with her life. These two have an instant attraction are so fun, quirky and full of passion. I loved their story and how they snuck around…even though the family knew they were into each other! The entire family is fantastic and add so many laughs and funny situations to the story. Looking forward to the other books in the series! Thank you Home Cooked Books for the complimentary copy. Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge delivered a phenomenal performance!! Erin has an amazing voice and she has become one of my favorite narrators. Bags gives the characters perfect emotion, personality and voice. Alastair is a new to me narrator and his voice is so delightful! He also gave perfect emotion, personality and voice to the characters…and the way he says Baaabara!!! The entire series is amazing. A fantastic listen!!!

Entertaining

Liz Alden is a new author to me and I am shocked that not come across this author before.

Set in Fork Lick ( I just love the name) Molly and her van “Vaniel” need some help. In exchange Molly agrees to work at the farm shop which is where she meets the grumpy farmer Alex Bedd.

From the first chapter I was hooked on their story, add in Alex’s grandmother and the Bedd family and you are in for an entertaining read.

I fell hard and fast for Molly and Alex, they are such wonderful characters and so easy to relate too. She brings the light into Alex’s life that he didn’t know he needed.

This book ticked all the boxes for me from the first to the last chapter. I love romantic comedy stories and this was a good example of the genre.

The narration by Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge brought the characters to life for me. Their voices were easy to listen too and they brought all the passion, drama, romance and humour to their performances.

Loved Alex & Molly

I enjoyed Alex and Molly’s story wonderfully narrated by Alastair and Erin. I really like this narrator pairing. This was a cute small town romance and I loved seeing Alex open up and find his happiness. He has harbored such resentment towards his grandfather and his siblings have always wanted to mend the relationship with him.

Molly really brought out the best in Alex and I loved their chemistry. And I was so glad when Alex was able to help his brother understand what happened between him and his grandfather. Alex really deserved to find his joy in life and to be able to be around his family without the anger and sadness.

I’m excited to see what’s to come for the other siblings.

The series just keeps getting better

Edited for audiobook: Farm 2 Forking is such a wonderful series, and while I was reading the books when they first came out I was hoping, hoping, hoping that they would be made into audiobooks, because who doesn’t agree, audiobooks are the best! The books are so funny with the variety of animals and bizarre situations people get themselves into, the unique town names, the underlying seriousness of trying to save Bedd Fellows Farm and the rocky yet irresistible relationships that you hearing all this is going to be so satisfying – and it is. Talented voice actors Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge bring it all to life with just the right emotions at the right times. A joy to listen you. You’ll love it. I received an advance copy of the audiobook for Butter You Up. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

Butter You Up, the second book in the Farm 2 Forking series, picks up right where the first book, Since You’ve Bean Gone, left off. We’re back in Fork Lick, New York (surrounded by towns with oh-so-clever names like Climax and Here). Bedd Fellows Farm is still just on the edge of failing, the family is still as quirky as ever, and the barnyard is full of funky pets so adorable you can’t stop watching them. It’s fun and funny and overflowing with heat. And fantastic. How could it not be fantastic with the terrific authors who have joined forces to write this series? Once-upon-a-time-grumpy brother Ethan pretty much found his forever HEA when Lia came back into his life. Now we’re on to another grumpy Bedd brother (geez, are they all grumpy?). Alex doesn’t actually live on Bedd Fellows Farm. He was told to leave years ago, reminded that Ethan was going to run the farm one day and that he, Alex, was in the way. Surprised, hurt, shattered, devastated – and very angry – Alex did as he was told. He successfully manages Udderly Creamy dairy farm nearby. And while he loves his Gran, and helps when needed, he spends little time at Bedd Fellows and has little contact with his siblings. Ethan has reached out many times but Alex isn’t interested. Not sure I blame him.

But his life is fine. It’s fine, it’s fine, it’s fine. Just ask him. Until that darn happy, smiling, upbeat Molly enters his just-fine-thank-you life. A vanlifer, she’s working her way across the country (a quest to be explained later), going to park Vaniel (get it?) at Bedd Fellows Farm and help out at the weekly Farmer’s Market. A condition of staying at the farm is Gran’s “request” that she also apply for the job to work at Alex’s farm stand. Sounds fine to her. She needs to have electrical work done on Vaniel so extra income is welcome. How hard can this farm stand be?

Molly is enjoying vanlife but she’s also kind of ready to go home. It’s her opportunity to see the country, enjoy life, before she heads home to responsibilities. It’s just her and her dad, an ex-military man who suffered injuries and has PTSD. She wishes he could have come with her but he insisted she go alone and savor the experience. She is happy and positive and upbeat, but it’s a solitary life, and she also worries about her dad.

Alex and Molly together are hilarious (when they’re not flushed and heated up, that is). When they first meet, she inwardly declares him a stone-cold hottie and almost everything he does makes her heart go pitter-pat, even his surly, grumpy behavior and especially in those flannel shirts. Alex doesn’t need friends, or girlfriends, or relationships or any of that stuff, but try as he might he is drawn to her hair and smile and certain body parts. And he just can’t help wanting to be around here.

They are so cute together. Author Liz Alden puts the funniest, sweetest, hottest – and most heartfelt – words in their mouths. You can’t help but love big, burly grumpy on the outside melty on the inside Alex; he needs a break, and some love. Beaming, bubbly, babbling Molly just might be the one to give it to him; she’s a woman, not a girl, and not afraid to express her desires. Things are going pretty well, even if it’s almost time to her and Vaniel to move on, until they’re not. Sometimes things said can’t be unsaid, and misunderstandings can’t be explained. Is this sadly going to be one of those times?

Butter You Up is such an enjoyable read. In addition to return visits with Ethan, Lia, Ethel, Baa-bara and the rest and meeting Alex, Molly, Kit and Trixie, there are also strawberries, strawberry milk, goats, Mootilda, a canopy dog bed and much, much more. Thanks to author Liz Alden for providing an advance copy of Butter You Up as part of the Farm 2 Forking series. It was udderly satisfying and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

Awesome!

This is the second book in the Farm 2 Forking series. I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge. They both did an outstanding job. It was very easy to listen to--their voices are pleasant and pretty much stay on an even sound level, which I really appreciate in an audio book.

This is very much a grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract story. Molly is very outgoing and bubbly, while it is hard to even get Alex to talk most of the time (he did do pretty well during the steamy scenes, though). He is also her boss. Alex definitely has some issues with his family created in his past and Molly is struggling some with her father.

Butter You Up is mostly funny and upbeat. It was great to see Molly bring Alex around to being more sociable, especially with his family. And there are farm animals! This book reminded me of books by Erin Nicholas and Jill Shalvis. Romance, steam and funnies all mixed up together! I'm ready for the third in the series. Did I mention farm animals?

Loved this Grumpy Sunshine romance!

Alex Bedd is a surly man of few words. He prefers animals to people and running the creamery that is adjacent to his families farm. When he needs help running the small store, he gets more than he bargained for. Molly is traveling the country when her van breaks down near the Bedd Fellows Farm. She needs to make some money to pay for the repairs so she applies to work for Alex. She is sweet and sunny and she wins over customers easily. Alex is just as enamored by the talkative Molly but tries to fight his attraction since she is just passing through. He can't resist her for long, when she starts to bring out his softer side. But when Molly starts to win over his family as well, he isn't ready to mend those relationships. This was such a sweet and swoony romance! I really fell hard for both Alex and Molly. They are both genuine and relatable with their flaws, vulnerabilities, and strengths. They are from different worlds but fit so perfectly together. Their friends and family who were all so funny, supportive, and loyal, continue to charm me and make this story even more entertaining.
Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon continue to narrate this series. Their voices are so versatile, and are a pleasure to listen too as they bring these characters and stories to life!

Loooove this one!

I really loved Alex and Molly! His dog and friends (oooh that Kit) as well as her Dad are all so delightful! Molly is so thoughtful, kind and smart. I enjoyed her interaction with all the different characters. She really brought sunshine to the farm. I love all the information on boondocking and camping. Very interesting and I am glad the author explained it instead of just assuming I knew. Plus the little but about asparagus! Who knew?? I would love to see it grow. Freaky! Alex is the grumpy one who slowly changes. Its fun to see him starting to smile and have fun again.

I really am loving this series and am only Into book 2! It’s funny, thoughtful, has wonderful witticism plus I really learned something! The characters are interesting and enjoyable. I look forward to more in this series.

A-MOO-zing Listen!

The puns in this book are hilarious! Molly and Alex were so fun. Molly is living van life she just got her van and named it Van-iel. She makes a stop at the farm and in exchange for free parking she helps work the strawberry patch on the weekend. Her second job is at the dairy farm. Her boss is Alex. He tried to fight the attraction but it never works. Haha.

Fun grumpy-sunshine romcom

Who wants a fun grumpy sunshine romcom with heart? ME!

Butter You Up, book 2 in the Farm 2 Forking multi-author romcom series definitely hit the spot. Molly, our merry-wanderer, is just want grumpy Alex needed to bring him out of his funk. Bonus points for then extended Bedd family, including Bah-bra, their intrepid sheep of hilarity.

Liz Alden's contribution to this series is fun, funny, happy, and really expands the Bedd Family's story. Narration by Erin Mallon and Alistair Haynesbridge is delightful and truly captures the spirit of Molly and Alex perfectly.
