About this listen

Nine years after a tragic accident, Hannah “Brennley” Evans has returned home to the snowy mountains of Whistler, Canada. After failing school and the death of her grandmother, the woman who raised her, Hannah is drawn back home. This is the very place that destroyed her, where her whole world ended, and the reason she now goes by Hannah Jennings.

Working in the lodge where she practically grew up, Hannah hopes to find her way back to being the girl she once was.

That is until she walks into his room.

Struggling with his own tragic past, Rhys Axton, an infamous sexy snowboarding champion, wants nothing more than to be the next Olympic hopeful. Sex, snowboarding, and working out are all he cares about, which helps shut off the demons that haunt him and the family who rejected him.

The moment Hannah walks into his room, he knows something is different about her. Drawn to her, he can't seem to stay away from the mysterious, guarded girl. They are two heartbroken souls who both understand the darkness.

But little does he know she lives in lies and carries secrets that will bring his universe to its knees.

And secrets that will bury them both alive.

Falling for the snowboarder

Hannah has returned, after a 9 yr absence, to the winter resort where she grew up. She's trying to 'find herself' after the death of her beloved grandmother a month earlier. Both of her parents still work at the lodge...her dad is the renowned chef and her mom is the party planner. Hannah has lots of secrets and is not letting anyone near her damaged heart. Rhys is a champion snowboarder, who is competing for a spot on the Olympic team. He is a playboy but he feels drawn to the quiet restaurant staffer. He starts to pursue her and, Hannah finally gives in and they have a bit of a fling. When Hannah's secrets are finally revealed, will Rhys forgive her or will he walk away. There are a couple of Rhys' acquaintances/staff that I really wanted to hurt...but the book was fantastic and loved the HEA.

Another amazing story

Having read ALL of Stacey Marie Brown's other books I was excited to read (or listen to) a non-sci-fi romance. I knew it would be good because I have never been disappointed yet and it delivers.

Stacey gives us a story lines that is layered and unfolds it beautifully. It is a story of love, hurt, secrets, heartache and triumph. The characters felt real and authentic and I found myself immersed in the drama that surrounded them.

I highly recommend this book whether you are already a fan of Stacey Marie Brown or if this is your first read by her.

WHOAH--Didn't expect that!

I almost did not buy this one because its not really my thing, but I am glad I did. The male voice was a little on the whiney side but both narrators did a good job pulling you into the story. I agree with the other readers that this book is a slow burn, but its not the typical love story either. Once you get to the ending you will understand my heading.

Secrets Never Stay Buried

Overall 4 stars
Narration 5 stars
Story 3.5 stars

This story was much more mysterious and emotionally complex than I thought it would be. It's part sports romance, part slow burn, and part mystery. Hannah/Brennley and Rhys are so broken when we first meet them. They share an instant connection, but as the story progresses, we find out just how deep it runs. There was a lot of frustrating back and forth drama with these two that left me with a bit of whiplash. Rhys is the typical manwhore athlete and the whole Riding Rhys hashtag along with the persistent ex-girlfriend added to the angst. Slowly the pieces of the past are revealed in flashbacks and though I had a strong suspicion about what the big reveal would be, I was still moved and heartbroken thanks to the amazing performances by Aaron Shedlock and Andi Arndt. The narration was fantastic and both narrators did a wonderful job creating distinct voices for the different characters. This is my first Stacey Marie Brown book, but I look forward to reading/listening to more.

OH HECK YES!!!

Oh yes!!! Just the book I needed to read right now. Buried Alive had everything in it. A whole lot of heart squeezing, heart string pulling going on. Yummy hot athlete with major issues. Lots of hot sex. Had my emotions on high alert, which led to one hellava plot twist. One that I DID NOT see coming!!! My first book from this author. And now I’m addicted to her writing. So good. Amazing read.

Incredible

I don't know where to begin! What did I love about this book? It's my first Stacey Marie Brown novel, and I think first and foremost, it's angsty without being over the top. It's got a sports underlying theme with both a male and female athlete. It's a slow burn, yet hot build to a romance. And there is a twist that I didn't see coming. From the very start, the story of Hannah is intriguing. There is some bread crumbs around to try and figure out what happened, but it's not something easily figured out while listening to the story. She is a complex woman, armor almost impenetrable, yet when she sees Rhys, that armor is nicked. But will the secrets she carry let her armor off? There is a lot to this story with beautiful scenery, a little humor and a lot of build to an explosive ending. I loved it.

Give it narration by Andi Arndt and Aaron Shedlock, it is easy to get drawn into this world of snowboarding and secrets. I loved Andi's ability to emote the feelings of Hannah so well that it's easy to experience all the feelings she has. Aaron's interpretation of Rhys is spot on, showing the depth of his feelings and maturity. Together this performance is the perfect blend.

Hot snowboarder!!

Even though this is my first book by Ms. Brown, I know it will not be my last. I wasn't sure about this one in the beginning, it seemed just like "Hannah" was just hiding too much and she was acting out at everything (or everyone). But then she crossed paths with Rhys and the suddenly the book changed. Partly, because they both were hiding sooooo much, but the pull between them had to mean something. Some OW drama, but hey Rhys was a manwhore after all!!

The narration was fabulous with Andi Arndt & Aaron Shedlock.

Great story - Great narration!

Stacy Marie Brown is a new author to me. This story is so well written and I loved it! The storyline was intriguing and captivating, with a huge twist! In fact, I didn't see this twist coming. I love the two main characters, Hannah and Rhys. They are strong and they are great together. The narration was really great and easy to listen. Andi Arndt and Aaron Shedlock are two great narrators. They never disappoint. I was happy they were narrated this story together. I'll listen again this story. I'm looking forward to read/listened more books from this author. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
